no idea what to buy ds 11.

ds birthday is next week, he will be 11 and is Year 6. He is getting a tablet which is a huge present for us and quite unprecedented, result of much negotiation

relatives are getting him a cymbal (for his drum kit) and other drum bits, plus cover for tablet and a onsie.

That pretty much covers everything he wants. He doesn't want books (we love next to a library) he doesn't want music (will now download it) doesn't want clothes.

He is past lego etc.
What on earth do I buy him for Christmas?

I am completely stumped. Sad

I am liking the headphones idea. That would really work well.

Not sure I am ready for him to do a driving experience, Shock but will have a look at other experience days.

great ideas, keep them coming (may need to make list for next year!)

A driving experience at Mercedes World, if you live anywhere near there.

Lots of other places do them too. We have done Mercedes World, and a driving experience at another place in Kent.

A wii, if you don't already have one.

Does you have a soldering iron in the house?
DS1s Granny has bought him a solder your own digital FM radio from Maplin (cost about £20 including the aerial).

I have no idea what the kendama is either, I was just grateful he'd asked for something affordable

OP how about a book of vouchers for different events/things - eg treetop walk at venue near you, x amount of cinema vouchers, bowling voucher, you could tailor it to his interests and maybe depending on budget get 12 things one for each month ?

thanks for all the ideas.
It isn't an ipad, just a cheapest we could get tablet, but we could get him google app vouchers
he doesn't skateboard, because they all have stunt scooters (last years birthday present) which they use. I know that might change.

I have clicked on the Kendama toy. What is it???? dh and I sitting looking a bit Confused!!

I have got some things, Beano annual and Doctor Who book and Simpsons slippers, I just wanted one ''proper'' present as a main, if you know what I mean.

He is into minecraft, so might have a look and see what I can find.

It is just sooo hard having a birthday so close to Christmas. He usually gets some birthday cash and then saves that for later in the year when he wants something.

He loves the theatre too and if I hadn't already bought him his musical instrument of choice which has cost me a small fortune I would take him to see Les Mis.

Ds is desperate for this he doesn't know that I've brought it. It plays music via Bluetooth from devices like iPods phones tablets MP3 players etc.

The other thing ds2 has asked for is air fix kits and Lego creator. He builds them and keeps them rather than play with them.

Oooh - probably can't be helpful but am watching avidly for ideas as we are in the same boat - DSS is 11, and doesn't appear to want anything for Christmas. He started secondary school in Sept so I think it is a case of - the things he sort of still likes/wants are now 'too babyish' (like the lego you mention) but he isn't really into more grown up stuff (if that makes sense).

DH did buy him a workshop thing last year - here any good?

Is it an ipad? Get him an apple voucher so he can buy apps, music etc.
