What are you buying your husband for Xmas this year?

My DH and I have been together nearly 20 years and I have run out of ideas! It doesn't help that he has next to no hobbies.....

He drinks very moderately, wine but not beer
He goes running but not interested in any other sport
He doesn't like reading, or pamper products
He likes gadgets but already has mini iPad, sonos etc
He's into photography - but already has cameras etc

I had a personalised picture thing made for him which was about £25 from notonthehighstreet.com, but he has already seen it annoyingly (my fault).

I am totally stuck! Happy to spend some money on him (say £500 or so) but equally happy to do something very cheap but thoughtful - if only I could think of anything.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thanks for the recommendation, I saw someone recommend it on another thread and ordered one - just waiting on it arriving :o

I have bought DH some cufflinks from notonthehighstreet - each one depicts a map of his two favourite places on earth as a circular cufflink.

Ipod docking/alarm clock looks a good idea.

My two best gifts for dh were:

  1. a personalised chalkboard for the kitchen (it's huge and has "DH's Kitchen" printed across the top) with a set of colourful markers to use on the chalkboard. Can't remember where I got it from but easily google-able. The chalkboard pens have to be erased with Mr Muscle - so they're not chalk. We have had a lot of good times with friends in our kitchen at parties doodling on our board.

  2. a DAB/ internet radio so he can listen to any radio station in the world. We are a very international couple - hence the cufflinks and the internet radio.

Dh is getting two football books, a football game for PC, whisky glasses, a new wallet and Risk board game.
I would dearly love to be buying aftersha e, nice cufflinks etc but he is a slob!

How about a wine subscription where they send new wine every month?

Jessica78 · 21/11/2016 09:01

I recommend a Spicery subscription - I bought DH Indian Restaurant Classics last year and have bought DB & SIL date night around the world this year.

Language lessons and an ironic book.

Last year he got a laptop and a box of chocolates.

A night in a luxury hotel nearby. My mum will take the kids overnight and I'll spring for dinner and booze too.

Yes, it's also something of a gift for me too, but we have young DC who don't let us sleep much, plus he works really hard, so I figure the best gift I can get him is a night off.

kirinm · 21/11/2016 09:12

We've decided not to buy anything for each other this year. Not for humbug reasons just because neither of us want or need anything. I'd rather put money towards a holiday.

My go to is a weekend away.... been to Berlin and Amsterdam as Christmas presents and also in UK a couple of times. Book the flights and hotel and give tickets for Christmas. I always email his boss first to check the dates!

I've bought a dressing gown from Biju (sp) linked on another thread. A Gin and tonic minatures set from Sainsbury ' s and a leather soft case for cables/phone charger, that's from Osprey of London. Oh, and Lindt fruit and nut, expensive but soooooo good😊

Mini break

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 21/11/2016 09:39

Apple Watch may be good if he's into running/ fitness and gadgets.

Thread is from 2013...

Very trad and boring, but new slippers from Celtic Sheepskin - he'd never think to buy any himself. Noticed the other day that his old ones were badly worn - phew, saves me having to rack brains. Ordered by phone since couldn't remember effing password and they arrived 2 days later!

strawberryblondebint · 07/12/2018 17:29

@MiniMonty can I pm you. Tried but it's not accepting

Bought mine a bespoke handmade leather belt from a company a friend knows. All hand stitched and made entirely in England. I'll be getting him a wallet for his birthday next year and a watch strap for his ancient watch.

Deadline for bespoke stuff has passed but they do a small ready to wear section and their customer service is really good. They do gift vouchers too.

I had a good root about their social media and they supply a few A listers but they don't shout about it.
