What have your dc been asking for and what will you be getting them?

Ds1 (5) is getting:
Some sort of tablet thingy (innotab/explorer)
Playmobile pyramid (second hand bargin!)
A smallish lego set
Some sort of safari/jeep type set - I know what I want but no one appears to have made it Smile

Ds2 (3) is getting:
Imaginext pirate ship
A play-doh set
Something musical but not sure what yet
Some extra bits of brio to add to his collection

Both will also get a few books, cds, dvds and stocking fillers - one of which will be half of a walkie-talkie set each. They are also having an art easel to share to celebrate the fact that the new house we will be in by then (fingers crossed) has room for such bulky items.

And I shall probably wish I had one myself but i work from home and am permanently attached to a laptop so it seems a bit pointless!

LadyLetch you're very welcome, I just saw it on HUKD, it wasn't my spot. Can't wait till I can actually get them out and set them up, having to keep them hidden at the mo but the kids are at holiday club tomorrow.

I have just brought some bits from The Entertainer, big craft sets reduced to £5 and £10 and Bendaroos, dd loves them reduced from £15.00 to £3.75!

Doublemum

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the info on the blackberry playbooks.

I went out and bought myself one today and also bought two for my daughters for Christmas. I've been playing with mine tonight, and the DDs love it. They will be so chuffed when they get theirs at Christmas.

Thefunny thing was, I showed it to my parents and they bought themselves one each, and I put it up on Facebook to say what a good deal it was, and two of my Facebook friends went and bought them too. I should be on commission! Or you should as I had never even heard of the playbook before I read your post yesterday. So a massive Thanks for that Grin.

Dd1 will be 13 and wants a mini fridge and clothes.

Dd2 it's all about monster high this year.

I hope that happens Lilicat, your DS sounds lovely.

DS is getting a wooden toy garage from us for Xmas (the ELC one- currently £30 online down from £50, 20% off ELC online with 'bluebird' so £24!), then it is his birthday 3 days later so he's probably getting some Playmobil 123 (he'll be 2) from us. My parents are getting him a play kitchen so he'll prob get some bits to go with that and I want to make him some felt play food :)

My son will be 2yrs 9months at Christmas and can't ask for anything as he doesn't really speak.

However when we were shown round the preschool he currently attends we had a look in the older children's room as well as the one he would be in. When in the older kids room he found a singing Handy Manny toolbox and was obsessed with it for the entire time we were in there.

I have got it for his for Christmas, I hope he is going to love it as much as he did that day.

I am so excited for Christmas at the moment as he has recently started to show excitement at receiving a toy which is new for him (he is autistic). Last Christmas the new toys freaked him out a bit and he mainly ignored them for a few weeks till he was used to them being there.

Things were slightly easier on his birthday as I was more aware of reducing the level of noise and mess but he still took time to adjust to the new things. Nothing was a hit straight away.

However recently I have given him a Hot Wheels car for being good while I had a medical appointment and a Take and Play Thomas train for a potty training success.

When he got the car he actually said 'Oh Wow' and had the biggest smile and when he got the train he was over the moon. He held on to it all evening and took it to bed.

If he reacts that way to one of his Christmas presents it will just be the best feeling ever. I am trying not to get my hopes up but I would love more than anything to have a Christmas memory of him smiling when he sees one of his presents.

Thanks Mike and lljkk, I looked at both and I think he'd be safer with the XL. It looks more sturdy I think?

God they get so expensive when they start wanting electrical stuff. DD is still happy with bits and pieces.

Imaginext Batman bits (can't recommend their toys highly enough for 3-5; I've even bought my nephew the boat for his 2nd birthday which was down to £29.99 from £59.99 in Argos) and Lego superheroes for DS who will be 4. His birthday is just before too.

DD(14) whatever she sticks on her Amazon list! Usually Dead Dolls for her collection, SIMS, and anime books.

I've already bought most of DS's simply because I know what he wants and a lot of it is marked down in summer sales at the moment.

My biggest challenge will be sticking to my budget as I am a pest in getting very excited about Christmas.

Thanks for posting about the Blackberry playbook, I've just ordered one to put away for dp's christmas. He kept looking at the new ipad but he thought it was too expensive so hopefully he likes this :)

I've also bought my youngest (who will be 15 months by christmas) a happyland village set when it was half price in ELC. Can't believe I'm so organised this year!

sb6699 why don't you take DS to currys and get him to have a look at the Playbook? I know that would kind of ruin the surprise but if he has his heart set on an iPad it might be a disappointment? I don't think anyone on the hUKD thread is saying the Playbook is better than the iPad, but then for 64 GB you'd be paying more than £500 for an iPad so it ought to be better! The playbook seems to be strong as a media player but weaker on apps - the apps side may change when the new OS is brought in, but it may not. For my uses I'm not too bothered about apps as long as there is some choice, so it seems good for my needs. (or rather my kids' needs.) Also the PB doesn't support Skype or Love film or Netflix, but unlike the iPad it can run Flash.

I can't beleive I am posting on a Christmas thread in August but DH has just got DS a second-hand road bike this evening, which we have hidden in the shed. DS is desperate for a road bike and it was a total bargain!

Ive just bought DDs HTC Flyer tablets from my local fb selling pages.

DS wants an I-pad but they're so expensive and I'm wondering if there is much difference between that and the Playbook - that price is amazing :)

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be really grateful.

That's great OvO. I can't help feeling there's some great Blackberry conspiracy though and one day soon we might all wake up with triffids in our gardens. They're too cheap! I haven't had a play with these yet as the kids have always been with me, but on tuesday they're at holiday club and I'll be having a play and downloading some fun stuff for them. I believe there's a Norton app you can download too to stop them picking up and nastiness.

Well thank you again DoubleMum, just picked up playbook today. Grin Had a wee shot of it to make sure it was working and it's ace! Also got the 3 years insurance for a tenner as kept in mind what you said.

Really chuffed with it and while it isn't quite as pretty as an iPad it's just as nice to use. Can't wait to give it to my DS3 for Christmas!

Octonauts stuff (duvet, fleece blanket, towel, and figurines) from Amazon for dd1 (4yo) plus possibly Innotab/Innotab 2 as main present.

Selection of half price play items in ELC for dd2 (18 mths)! Have got her the Little Tikes Cosy Coupe car from mothercare when it was reduced to £35 last month as her main present.

dd1 (4yo) loves octonauts. so have purchased good value duvet set, towel, fleece blanket from Amazon. An not such brill value Hmm plastic octonaut character figurines also from amazon. She hasn't asked for it but we're thinking of getting her the Innotab/Innotab 2 as her main present, as she likes to hold carefully play with (very patient and understanding) dsd's ipod touch.

dd2 (18 mths) is getting a couple of kiddie play items on half price in ELC/mothercare at the mo! She's got the Little Tykes Coupe car reduced from £49 to £35 last month in mothercare's ELC section as her main present.

DH sorts dsd's (teenagers) main present or money whatever they choose from all of us. I do their 'santa' presents - Pjs, stationary, makeup, nice toiletry sets, slipper socks, selection boxes, a piece of silver jewellery, i-tunes gift card etc.
