Good luck OP, I’ve heard no two births are the same induced or not Flowers

Both were the same to start. 40wks, Pessary in at 4pm, period type pains from around 2am, contractions started about 4am.

1st time, mild contractions continued, taken to delivery suite at 7.30. Waters broken by midwife at 8.30. Contractions continued. Syntocin drip given at mid-day, lots of bouncing around on a ball, diamorphine at 5, started to push around then, baby arrived 6.10pm. 26 hrs pessary to baby.

2nd time. Contractions ramp up fast, had a bath at 5am and some paracetamol, had to buzz midwife to get out the bath as so painful. Down to delivery suite at 5.45am, more contractions, harder stronger, asked for diamorphine at 7 but didn’t get it. Strong urge to push at 7.05am, three pushes later baby arrived 7.12am. 15 hrs start to finish.

I was expecting no 2 to play out the same as no1 so I spent the first hour of their life saying ‘am I done? Really? Excellent!”

First induction - bad. Felt out of control. Made to labour lying down to help with monitoring. Epidural. Forceps. Baby injured (ok now). Post partum haemorrhage. Exhausted.

Second. Slow to get started. Progressed quickly after waters broken. Well supported by midwife. Gas and air. Up and showering within an hour. Felt elated.

Night and day really.

My first induction was 40+6. Pessary went in at 1pm, contractions started 11pm and I was in a lot of pain all through the night. Waters went 8.30am, I was knackered. Pain ramped up, had pethidine, memory foggy. My son was born at 2.20pm, 2nd degree tear.

Second induction 22 months later. 38+1 pessary went in 10.30am and nothing happened. Slight pains but nothing else. Went to bed fully prepared to wake the next morning to find it hadn't worked but rolled over at 5am and my waters went. No pain, had a bath, hung around. Mild contractions 2cm at 11am, contractions ramped up by midday but still only 3cm. Was told I could go to labour ward so I could have some pain relief and was offered the stairs, lift or wheelchair. Walked down the stairs sideways, had an awful contraction half way. Had a worse one at the bottom. Got into my room, Midwife was on her lunch, there was faffing about with handover and a birthing ball as I had another contraction and my daughter was born 20 minutes later! Midwife arrived just in time to control my breathing - no tears. I was home with my baby girl, eating dominoes and watching game of thrones 6 hours later.

Good luck!

Yes being induced tomorrow and already had a bad experience 2 years ago with a fast end of labour and a lot of tearing and interventions down below! Very nervous!

First time I went in at 36 weeks, 11am. I was given the pessary and nothing much changed, just sat about waiting. At 7pm they broke my waters, I went straight into labour and 6 hours later he was born.

My second I was in hospital for 2 weeks before hand with pre eclampsia , was induced at 35 weeks but 30 minutes after the pessary I was taken for an emergency c-section because his heart beat kept dipping. He does have a congenital heart disease though so it wasn't because of being induced.

Two very different experiences!

Do you have to be induced a second time OP? I was induced the first time but if I have another I’m hoping I won’t again as I hated it and it caused complications. I’d rather have a sceduled c section than have to be induced again to be honest.
