A middle name to signify Europe (before we leave...)

Call me a sentimental old fool/a remoaner/snowflake/whatever but DH and I are quite conscious that our son, due in Jan, could be born in quite possibly the last full year that we are EU members. I’d quite like to find a middle name that gives a farewell nod to Europe somehow (but isn’t too overboard like ‘Erasmus’ or ‘Europe’!). Had a look through the founding fathers for ideas but given we are both British we’d be looking at Winston Churchill - erm, not really doing it for me.

His first name is going to be Rudy and his big sister is called Maya. Surname starts with a T.

Any ideas, oh wise ones? Hmm

Frédéric, Frederick, Fryderyk, for Chopin.

Born in Poland to a Polish mother and a French father, his girlfriend was English and they holidayed in Mallorca Grin he represents a certain type of European. But depending on your slant he could be one of the liberal elite, a citizen of the world, the kind criticised by Theresa May.

The morning after the referendum Radio 3 was playing back to back Chopin - I imagine that for some it was a small act of defiance.

Just another option Smile assuming you are not on a windup

Pax is great but surely you just have to go with Erasmus. It's awesome.

Heath is the best suggestion so far.

Cameron is not the name to pick. He's the man who didn't have a plan B.

Or from the Arts:

Unity is beautiful and the nicest of the virtue names, but the oddest of the Mitford sisters.

I like pax it means peace.

Hi op,
Are you aware that the uk isn't actually leaving Europe? We'll still be geographically located within Europe as a country - in the same way that Ukraine is, for example. The EU is a political union, not a social one.
I'm not trying to patronise you, just reassure you that any future children/you/your son are still of course European.
The eu and Europe are two different things.
Sorry if you already know this by the way. Don't mean any offence. I'm a remainer and it's made me sad recently, too. But I refuse to lose my European identity.
Smile

Lol SnowBalls I am even within ten feet of one Grin

But a name that has to do with the founding principles of the EU is definitely the way forward. There must be any number of names signifying peace, cooperation and unity.

By the time he is 18 we will be full members. How about Pax - the EU for me is the greatest peace project.
