Estelle

Just wondering what opinions are on Estelle? We are after an uncommon but not unheard of girl's name, that's easy to spell. DH suggested Estelle the other day, and it's growing on me. I've never met an Estelle and my only reference points are Great Expectations and Joey from Friend's agent!
I'm not sure if it's so rare it falls into the unheard of category?

Other names on the short(ish) list are:
Iris
Cecilia
Harriet
Georgia
Celeste

Thanks!

I love all of your names...
Celeste was one of my favourites when I was pregnant.

One of my close friends is called Estelle and she is lovely.. We call her Stell for short but not all the time.

If you like short, french names, what about Margot?

Adore it. Know one adult estelle and she's fabulous. Not shortened to anything

Reminds me of politician Estelle Morris. I don't know of any other Estelles though.

I like it pronounced es-TELL but not ESS-tell. Maristelle is also nice.

Georgia and Celeste are my favourites on your list.

First thought-hair piled messily on top of head smoking a cigarette

I really like it...was at school with a Stella who was so very cool...Estelle sounds like a more grown up version and give you more options.

I prefer Cecilia from your list.

Very nearly my dd's name. Still a contender for any future dd (I also love Estella)

I was at uni with a very lovely French Estelle so it has good connotation for me.

Modestly popular in France. It's ok, nothing wrong with it.

Approx 40-50 babies a year registered Estelle in the UK. So not popular, but twice as popular as Estella. Stella is most popular version.

Estella is lovely, as is Stella. For some reason I don't feel the same about Estelle.

I don't personally like it, but strangely love Stella. Of your other names, I love Georgia.

I love Estelle. The Estelles I know are fabulous people. I've met very few baby Estelles so it's lovely but not too common. Stella is also great I think.

I have a Georgia (nn Georgie) and she is also fabulous Grin
