What baby names did you "just HAVE to" use when you were pregnant that you were talked out of, and realise now are awful?

I was desperate to name DS Sirius, or to at least use it as a middle name, when I was pregnant. At the time, I was really upset that DH wouldn't even consider it and instead, every time I brought it up, would reply "Sirius-ly?". I'm so just relieved that I didn't tell anyone else this was the name I wanted to use so didn't have to face a load of faces!

I have also seen several people seriously considering the name 'Ottoline' for their unfortunate little girls

What's wrong with Ottoline? It passes the MN judge test after all.

Dd was going to be Rose all through my pregnancy, until I ran it past my mum who thankfully pointed out that it probably wouldn't be great choice considering ds is called Alfred known as Fred!

Charlotte was my girls name for my ds. Still like the name but wouldn't use it now for royal reasons.

I was desperate to call my daughter Ella, and thought I was being achingly original before I realised every second girl being born that year was being called Ella. Some people don't mind, but I like to be a bit different to the herd.

The next name at the top of the list was Charlotte, now with Princess Charlotte I can imagine that one becoming very popular eventally.

Thank god I'd settled on something a bit more unusual before she was born!

I considered Jago, Jarvis and Riley for DS1 (who actually has a very plain traditional name, along the lines of something like Peter or Stephen). DH thought all three were far too out there. I still quite like Jago and Riley but Jarvis is not really my cup of tea any more. DS2 was only ever going to be either George or his actual name (another quite traditional one) and he does have George as one of his middle names.

I still like these names, but was going to go with Etta or Isis for girls. I could've had a pair of terrorists. It's a shame, especially for Isis which is more topical as it's lovely.

DS was going to be Decimus possibly. I still really like this too, but it is perhaps a little too wild for us as we're pretty boring. DS was a month premature so was not born in the 10th month which was the reason for the name

I'm currently pregnant and have a hankering for Eugene. Mumsnet tried to put me off but I still luvs it . I keep trying to imagine shouting 'Gene' across a soft play too and encountering strange looks when 'Jean' doesn't appear.

God I hope it isn't pregnancy hormones.

isis was on mine too for a girl.I loved it. That was 5 years ago. I also wanted Artemis for a girl. I still love Artemis though.

For a girl I wanted Deliverance. Not from the movie, but from a book I read once. Temperance or Deliverance.

DS was almost Leonidas (we have no Greek roots) and secretly we would love Bellatrix for DD. Won't though.
