So if DC3 is a girl, I am keen on an older style name, appreciating many people may find them fusty and not their thing. Which couple of these do you like and which do you think should be avoided like the plague?! Thanks.

Audrey
Dora
Greta
Lois
Victoria/ Vita
Iris
Emmeline
Sylvia/ Sylvie
Rilla
Esme
Rosemary/ Romy
Rosalind
Naomi
Evelyn
Juliet
Rosa

How about Vivienne, Astrid, Margot, Dephine, Mirabelle?

OP - you know that older 'fusty' names are very very trendy right? Just in case you thought no one else might have these names at nursery...

All lovely but not sure about Rilla - I know a Milla?

I know one Vita, never met another in my life. She's 40ish. Fantastic person!

Babies near me recently have been called (from your list): Greta, Lois, Iris, Evelyn.

Audrey
Dora
Greta
Lois
Victoria
Vita
Iris
Emmeline
Sylvia/ Sylvie
Rilla
Esme
Rosemary/ Romy
Rosalind
Naomi
Evelyn
Juliet
Rosa

Love Emmeline, Sylvie, Esme, Rosalind, Naomi, Juliet
Really don't like Audrey, Dora, Lois, Victoria, Rilla
Never know how to pn Evelyn! Ev-lyn? Ev-er-lyn? Eve-lyn? The pn issues would drive me bonkers

I really like Emmeline.

I like the idea of Vita being a nickname for Victoria but I think you will struggle to get anybody who isn't close family/friends to play ball with that one.

Slightly biased as we have one but I love Sylvie! Smile

I like Juliet best from your list. Followed by Rosalind and Victoria. I really would avoid Dora due to the explorer link!!!

Love Emmeline, Rosalind and Juliet. Sylvie, Rosa and Iris also very nice.

I like Emmeline but I think the Ems are over now.

I like Audrey because of Hepburn only but think it sounds harsh.

Can suggest one not on the list? Aubrey - inspired by Audrey but softer and more original and giving connotations of the sun rising.

I like Victoria, Evelyn (not shortened to another Evie) and Rosa.

How about Esther, Roseanne, Catherine?

I would say Evelyn is more likely to become Evie as in my head Evelyn is pronounced EVV-elyn.

All nice but avoid any eve names evelyn would become eve. Quite literally every other girl around here is called eve it's this generations sarah.

I dislike all the R names, Greta and not really keen on Dora. The others are all good. I like Victoria and Iris especially.

I like lots of your names but I think Naomi is my favorite. Quite a cool, not overly used name (where I live anyway).

Why all the hate for Rilla?? I actually like this name... though apparently am alone in this! Isn't it short for Marilla, as in 'Rilla of Ingleside'?

Juliet is the best by far. I love Juliet.

Rosalind is lovely.

Dulcie was on our short list, with Saskia.

But we ended up with a Lois.

Audrey - I'm on the fence about this one. I know it's a nice classic name but I'm just not crazy about the sound. I wouldn't use it but I'd be happy to meet a little Audrey.

Dora - I really don't like this one, sorry.

Greta - this is really nice! I really like it as a nn for Margaret.

Lois - Oy, I really don't like this. Sounds kind of like sound a cow makes.

Victoria/ Vita - Really don't care for Victoria but Vita is very cool!

Iris - This is nice but feels overdone to me.

Emmeline - Gah, I really love this name. That said, I think it'll be very dated in 20 years' time. I also love Emily and Emma, for what it's worth.

Sylvia/ Sylvie - Sylvie is adorable but I'm afraid everyone else thinks it's adorable too! :(

Rilla - sounds like short for Marilla. I don't really like it.

Esme - No, way too trendy.

Rosemary/ Romy - I like Rosemary but don't care much for Romy.

Rosalind - love this name! Totally underused.

Naomi - the sound is too close to mayonnaise in my accent.

Evelyn - This seems like the Caitlin and Ashlyn of today. In other words, I don't like it.

Juliet - Too cheesy. I prefer Julia by FAR.

Rosa - never have liked this or Rose. Rosalind and Rosemary are nicer.
