The boy name equivalent to Alice

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 01/10/2014 21:13

Alice is DDs middle name, picked in the main due to its literary connection, and as a traditional alternative to her "quirkier" first name (again, from childrens literature).

We are expecting a son this month and have again selected a rare first name, no literary connection this time, and I would like something quite traditional for his middle name.

The first name will be Travis, and our surname is long and begins with a C, however the first and middle name dont need to "flow" necessarily as we rarely use DDs first and middle name together.

So.......a boy Alice style name. If that makes sense.

Haven't read the whole thread but to me Alice is an underused classic and boys equivalents would be
Christopher
Louis
Quentin
Lawrence
Benedict
Dominic

Haha Devon yes we do Grin

No way am I getting dh to budge on Huw so may have to work on Lawrence as the MN. If I suggest Gilbert dh will just say its too "whats eating gilbert grape" - he has funny associations with names. Otis is a no go as we are having a baby not an elevator!

Huw is lovely. I remember you liking Laurie/Lawrence too - we both have little women daughters as I recall?! Love Travis Lawrence (or Laurie) andTravis Huw.

Not a fan of Finlay - although know some lovely boys with that name.

Fox is fabulous, quite tempted by it myself - but waay too un-hip to pull it off!!!

I know boys called 'Ru' and 'Moss' which I love as more off the wall suggestions - but the literary thing is important to me too (bookworm) so how about GILBERT?!!! Please could someone love it and honour Mr Blythe in the way he deserves?!! My DH is standing firm in his no-ness....we shall see....!!

Good luck!

Maybe that's because there's a girl called Alice in the Dilbert comic strips.

Sebastian. Would need a teddy called Aloysious.

Do like Hugh / Huw and agree it 'fits'.

Grin at Travis Tezza

Yes, I am liking Travis Huw C....

Mmm I would rather use Aidan or a completely different name. Adrian makes me think of Adrienne from Rocky.

Sorry, not a fan of Haydn (its in the same genre of name as Kaiden, Jaydon, Keelan etc round my way).

Travis Tezza does have a certain ring to it! I like the Aiden link but I think my DH would have the same kind of reaction as yours if I suggested his best friend (who also lives abroad).

Hugh/Huw is lovely and I love the link to your dm being Welsh. I'm also Welsh so maybe you could look at exploring some of those names?

Travis Haydn could be a good bet too?

Not particularly, no Grandparents on either side (of DH and I, not the baby!) and DHs dads name is the same as my first serious boyfriend so Id feel odd using that. And my dads name is Terence Grin.

I would like to use DHs best friends name as he now lives in NZ and we dont see him anywhere near as much as we would like (and its a nice name - Aidan) but DH wasnt too fussed about that suggestion.

Ponders possibility a new DH would be easier.

Boys names are harder I agree. We're having two middle names both with family connections. Do you have any names that may be used from your family?
