Baby names

Feeling sick to my stomach that Katie Price has just named her baby the same name as my son!

Currently holding my head in my hands rocking back and forth screaming "whhhhyyyyyyyyyyy?!?!"

Well, not really..... But I feel like doing that. I thought I had hit the jackpot with Jett, unique yet masculine and not too weird sounding and now KATIE PRICE has named her son Jett too.

Sorry, just had to have a rant. :(

Musttidyup - I was hoping nobody had read my post :) I don't know how a text msg suddenly appeared in my post. Silly phone! I've had it removed now as it contained personal info.

Anyway back to Jett - its not a bad name at all and as somebody above pointed out, Harvey and Junior didn't fly to the top of the name stats so don't worry! A number of people had the same concern over the name George only last month.

GiveMeVegemite My DS is also called Jett and is 2.5 now and after someone told me about KP yesterday I did sit there with my head in my hands feeling sorry for myself. I don't really like KP but it wasn't about that, more that I was worried I was going to spend the rest of his school years telling people his name and then explaining straight away that he had his name before KP's son and I didn't copy but....

Now I have my sensible hat on. I only have a close circle of friends and family and everyone associates the name with DS now and it suits him so much, it just is him now.

I just hope her baby Jett is ok as I think I read he has to stay in hospital due to being early and good luck to them all, they picked an awesome name! Grin

She was going to ruin someone's name, whatever she called her baby.

At least she chose something not that many children will be called.

Sorry OP. I'd be gutted too if it was my child's name. -which it would never, ever be--

Do you erally think you'll spend much time telling people that your kid isn't named after someone years younger than him?Do you meet really stupid people?

I can't believe people are complaining about mean replies to a really mean OP! Double standards or what?

i like the name Jett. I would never have been brave enough to use it as it would have sounded utterly bonkers with my surname, but it brings to mind a young man who knows his own mind.

and wears a lot of black leather.

and possibly has long black hair.

I may be overthinking this... :o

Sorry, but, does KP have another child called riviera?

Report
SconeInSixtySeconds · 19/08/2013 11:52

Her newborn is called Jett Riviera LotsaTuddles.

I think that is the issue really - poor little thing sounds a bit like a tv western character with the two names together...

I didn't call my baby what I wanted to call her because a famous person had a dd the week before and called her the same name.

I regret that decision now. I wish I'd gone with the name I wanted as nobody I know would associate it with some random baby with a famous mother.

I think Jett Riviera sounds like a budget airline with delusions of grandeur.

It also falls foul of my 'space detective' test. It's how I test if a name is silly - say NAME: SPACE DETECTIVE, and if it sounds reasonable, don't do it.

JETT RIVIERA: SPACE DETECTIVE!

Jett is not a name. Has your child got a middle name he can use when he is older? Although I am sure no one will assume you copied Katie-she is almost a nobody now.

Funny how, when you slate a name like Jett you get jumped on, yet it was fine on another thread to slag off Persephone. Both are the names of the OP in question's children. Double standard much.

I didn't slate it. I just said it not a proper name because imo it isn't. I don't think its too horrible though and if I were op I wouldn't worry about the Katie thing.

I don't think it's fine to slag off anyone's child's name in this manner, no matter who's kid and what the name. If a person already has a child with that name, then keep your slating to your fucking self...be it Jett OR Persephone!

It's not cool.

Bloody hell some of you aremean!

Fwiw op, I felt similar when not long after we named ds4 rudi the radio one DJ Edith bowman had a baby and names him rudi! I was pissed as I thought it may get really popular etc, it hasnt done tho.

I also have an 11 ur old Oscar and was annoyed by the baby Oscar on EastEnders, it wasn't a popular name at all when we chose it but is now.
