Baby names

Which name? Tessa, Electra or Soraya?

Hi. We are down to three names: Tessa, Electra, or Soraya pronounced with 'ray' not 'rye'. I also love Medea but too much like DD's name.

Last name is Spanish and ends with 'a' so names with 'a' ending seem to work.

All opinions welcomed!!

Electra would just end up as Ellie anyway.

I like Soraya, but would have used the 'eye' not the 'ay' prn.

Theresa is Ok.

Tessa/Tess. Lovely.

Electra sounds like a women's razor to me

I'm not really keen on any of them but would pick Tessa if I had to choose

I don't like Electra, it seems a little crap sci fi film. I live the others though.

Tessa/Theresa is lovely.

Tessa!

I really want to like Electra, but all I can think of is the Electra complex. Not a good association.

Soraya is fine, but I just prefer Tessa, and I suspect that if you used Soraya with that pronunciation your child would have to correct people a lot.

I quite like Electra. Doesn't strike me as stripperish but I know a lovely 6 year old one.

Tessa is nice.

I wouldn't use Soraya due to pronunciation issues.

How about Saphira, Astra, Zhora, Thora, Isra?

Hate Tessa. Love Electra. Only like Soraya pronounced with "rye".

thanks for everyone's comments- Squoosh you made me laugh! Have totally ruled out Electra thanks to being too strippery/cartoony.

I LOVE Medea as I went to high school with a girl named that and she was beautiful and very cool. But I get that about the meaning.

With Soraya all I can think about is a soya-based meat substitute.

I used to work in branding, looking at new names for products etc. That was hard. This is even harder!! Thanks everyone for your ideas...

Electra is a bit too 90's Vegas stripper.

Soraya sounds like a meat substitute.

Tessa is nice, although I prefer Tess.

I like tessa, but our last dog wad named that.

Not sure on Electra.

Soraya is good, a little exotic.

Tessa is lovely - I really like it. I don't mind Soraya either.

I really don't like Electra though - sorry. It sounds like a washing machine or vacuum cleaner!

Tessa is sweet. Medea would have been a very odd choice...as someone else said, she murdered her children.
