Anything but Henry. So common it's not even funny anymore.

I really like Barnaby.

Isaac by a mile

Henry or Isaac for me

I'd also avoid putting Henry with middle name Cooper too

I think with your surname, you need to go for a name that is definitely a "first" name.

Cooper Hall does sound like a place I think - not National Trust, more like a place on a Uni Campus i.e."I'll meet you at Cooper Hall after my Psychology lecture" - Sorry :(

Out of your options I'd probably go for Isaac.

If your surname is Hall then Henry is out surely and you are right lots of names sound like a place with that surname. You need a proper first name. To me Cooper Hall sounds exactly what you are trying to avoid.

Isaac nicest of that bunch, Rufus ok
How about
Adam
Aiden
Christopher
Daniel
Nathan
James
Joseph

Henry by a country mile. Not keen on the others. Was a thread on here a while back about Woody. Apparaently it is slang for an erection!

Cooper - mini cooper.. don't like
Henry - love
Rufus - no
Woody - NO!

Thanks everyone. Surname is hall so have to be a bit careful that the name doesn't end up sounding like some national trust property that you'd go for a picnic at!
Feel like I'm leaning more towards cooper and barnaby...

I have a Cooper so love that. I also like Rufus on your list. Not so keen on the others..

I think they're all rather the same! Isaac is only one I kind of like.
Henry is very mainstream. Cooper is okay.
Barnaby/Woody/Rufus make me wince.

From that selection I'd go for Rufus.

I thought of Barney Rubble Grin

I love Henry (but I do have one). How do they all sound with your surname?

Barnaby-very young name, little boy not teenager or man
Cooper -no
Henry-nice
Rufus-nice, fairly common name recently
Woody -I like it
Isaac-nice

What bout Morris? I met one the other day and suddenly loved the name

I prefer Isaac and Barnaby. Or how about Sebastian or Quentin?

Report
Jaynebxl · 07/06/2013 05:40

Rufus is nice, I know a child called that.
Barnaby makes me think of Barnaby Bear.
Cooper is just silly... It's a surname!
Woody... DH wanted this for DS after Woody Guthrie but ona a straw poll at work nobody had heard of WG and everyone said it just made them think of toy story.
Too many Isaacs.
Henry is ok.

Remember that Woody is sometimes used as a euphemism!! Blush

I like Isaac and Henry a lot. Barnaby is ok. Rufus and Cooper are dogs names, and Woody is just awful. I like Edward though.

CheerfulYank · 07/06/2013 03:10

I like them all but Woody. Rufus or Henry would be my favorites. :)

Report
BronaghT · 07/06/2013 03:02

Isaac would be my choice.
Copper is a surname and my dogs name so I wouldn't use that. Rufus is also my sisters dogs name so that reminds me if that and not a baby name.

Barnaby - reminds me of barns/hay/cows
Cooper - too surnamey
Henry - great classic name
Rufus - really like this
Woody - dislike, too nicknamey and pretentious
Isaac - nice and classic
