Yes, sweets are nice in Aldi...chocolate covered popcorn...yum.
Fruit is not very good in Aldi.
CHATTYSOUL.... I agree with you saying people look like convicts in certain places. My mum shops in Waitrose and yes, the people do look a far better calibre...well dresses, well to do sorts. Wish i could shop there all the time...but, needs must.

We bought some things from Lidl earlier in the week and they were fine. I wouldn't buy their meat but there's nothing wrong with most of the continental European brands they sell and the fruit and veg was nice and very fresh. I'd go there again.

We shop at Tescos, M&s,Somerfield,Asda,Sainsburys, local shops and farmers market. And will go back to Lidl's occasionally, even if just for their sweets.

I have found MandS cheaper than Lidl's and Aldi's. I got loads this week in M and S for £35.00 it wasn't far off a weekly shop. .
I spent £185.00 in Tesco on Friday, yes my fridge is full but is about 2 or (stretching it ) 3 weeks worth of food.
I have found Aldi's/Lidl's food to mostly be substandard and shit, I'd rather go to Iceland.

I have eaten food from Aldis and Lidls and have had some nice meals. But, the majority I have had is rank

I think it very much depends on where you live as to where you shop, how much time you have and whether you have a car or not.

I have lived all over the place and generally speaking there are more Tescos around than anything else.

I have attempted to shop at various Aldis/Lidls etc. over the years but generally give up as the shoppers look like prison convicts/hardcore thugs/the depressed and the weary and it just demoralises me!

Tesco is generally pretty affordable as it keeps competitive like anywhere else.

I would just like to say I miss Waitrose now I have left London sniff, it was great popping in there for a handful of foods but I hope one day to bump into one again even though I am living in the midlands!

Night x

GodzillasBumcheek · 29/05/2009 23:20

but...but...i've been in nearly every supermarket aroound here and Lidl definately are not the cheapest by a long shot! The cheapest is a combo of Tesco and Asda (what isn't on special offer at Asda usually is in Tesco) and shop for some luxuries at Lidl/Aldi etc like Options hot choc. Or am i just strange?

I nick apples from the hedgerow. They lasted me all winter.

There, that's better. Any other confessions to make?

I inadvertantly stole 30 fish fingers from sainsburys today. I didn't mean to, I promise. Tho when I realised I was pretty chuffed. There, I had to get it out.

Does this remark and its responses make any sense everyone. Surely the statement we are responding to is serious?? I shop in Aldi and Lidl all the time, and i am a single mum on Housing Benefit with little income.. And if REDCHARITYBONNY responded to me like that i would be pretty upset. Why all the smart sarcasm ??
As for you MRSRUFFALLO... are you serious ??? And what kind of large income is your DH on??? loads i guess !!
