he doesn't do valentines.

I do agree with his reason's but i must admit i would be happy if he changed his mind. basically he says that he tells me every day thathe loves me, why should he go out of his way to find a card that says it just to make Clintons happy.

fair enough.

well i was out shopping with a friend today and i felt sad that i wasn't joining in with all teh present buying.

so i got him a card, a little teddy and a helium balloon.

I wont be seeing him at all this weekend as he has his children from friday to sunday

SOOOOOO (here the AIBU bit) i have boxed it all up and posted it special delivery so it will arrive at his office tomorrow.

i know he will kill me, but i think that deep down he will kinda like that i have gone to the effort.
but now thats its all posted and sorted and i can't take it back im getting a bit anxious.

what do you think. sweet and loving gesture or making him look a prat at work?

I wonder if tonight will be the night that fattie's DH will be taking her up the Oxo tower as a thank-you for his lovely gifts...

ach, I think there are times when it could possibly be alright...

\However, I wouldn't have mentioned it, I think....but when I read solidgolds posts...well...

tumtumtetum · 15/02/2009 13:24

I was going to say that given fattie's plans her DH would likely forgive her anything...

But is it bad manners to bring things across threads? Pleased to see apparently not

listen, embarrassing / cheesy or not. he's a grown man which means he will be able to handle the situation and cope with any flack quite admirably.

don't worry about it.

If it's not too late, I think you should call him and warn him not to open it in public. Poor man.

I did this to my friend once, got one of those HUGE tacky satin padded jobs and sent it to her office, cheered her up no end - after she'd stopped beating me and saw the funny side

I suppose I got away with it as he works away Mon - Fri,and colleagues have met me it would have been more difficult this year as I don't know where his office is in Brussels .

I'm still waiting for his present to arrive and it will be a romantic champagne breakfast, smoked salmon, scambles, bagels etc, before i whizz off to a conference!

Oh god no!

Someone once sent me flowers at work and I was so mortified I put them next to someone elses desk.

How utterly cringily hideous.

If DH did that to me I would kill him.

The idea is very funny, to actually execute it is not. Why didn't you just send him a card if you really felt the need to do something? A helium balloon next to his desk dear god he wll be utterly shamed...

Sorry back to OP, the teddy concerns me in an office environment, he could end up looking prattish.
