AIBU?

to get slightly irritated when I'm pushed for time and my local lollypop lady...

decides she wants to halt the traffic at regular intervals and let across perfectly capable adults with NO CHILDREN WHATSOEVER with them, who I imagine are quite familiar with road safety by now...Grr. Am I being unreasonable then? Is it just me?

Very true, but let's remember Captain that the poor child has to fly(whispers) B-class

At least if you were HM - you would never be stopped by the local lollipop lady - as your chauffeur and nanny would be taking her to school - and it would be a private school which wouldn't have such a thing as a lollipop lady as none of the kids would walk to school anyway

Actually I have more time for Heather Mills than for people who moan about having to stop for 2 seconds to let someone cross

I once reported a lollipop lady for selling individual fags to the primary school age kids she was helping to cross the road.

See it was never about people crossing , am not anti people crossing the road! Just simply that most healthy adults can do it all on their own quite easily. I honestly don't feel the need for assistance to cross the road but that's just my opinion and I'm obviously going to get a Heather Mills style stoning for it (sigh)

YABU.

Let's analyse it.
Your car stops to let people cross.
The cars in front of you move on ahead. Then you start moving and catch up with the other cars.

What's the problem?

So you have to stop to let people cross the road. And that's annoying because...?

The only way to redeem yourself is to claim that you didn't need the Lollipop Lady to stop the traffic as you would have stopped anyway because right-thinking car drivers such as your good self know that pedestrians should always take precedence over cars.

I'm sure that's what you were going to say anyway

Our lollipop lady stopped the traffic to let me across the road when I was out running. I was not pleased. I needed a rest and was counting on having to stop for ooh.. at least 1 minute to get my breath back. As it was I had to carry on ...and run faster because all those cars were lined up watching me! Cow!

YABU - very unreasonable ! If you dont like being stopped by the lollipop lady then either go a differnt route or walk !

The school is very lucky to have a lollipop lady - our school has been without one for a year and it is very difficult to get people to do this job !

get a grip !

How can you be cross with a lollipop lady. It's like committing GBH on a kitten.

I often miss the bus because it takes me 10 minutes to cross the road in front of my house and noone ever slows down for me, let alone stops- I only wish there was a friendly lollipop lady to help me across. Or traffic lights.
Tell me, VacheFolle, do you find it equally annoying that traffic lights stop the traffic flow to help ablebodied adults across? Should ablebodied adults just jump over the cars?

ooh, haven't checked this thread since I last posted. Possibly should have mentioned before but half the time I AM A PEDESTRIAN and when out with my youngest in a buggy greatly appreciate our lollypop lady...however I never feel the need when I'm on my own, Maybe it's just me then?

God, it only takes a minute for people to cross the road.
Some drivers are so impatient, it's annoying.
Your lollypop lady sounds very considerate

It is an interesting attitude among my car-driving friends that noone who is walking can ever be in a hurry or going anywhere important. Being on your two feet equates with dawdling along in a leisurely manner to nowhere in particular. Never dashing off to a business meeting or catching the 9.13.

YABU.

Our local lollipop peeps cross adults too.
