Me… I used to bin plates I couldn’t be bothered to clean. At one point I was buying new crockery almost weekly. I didn’t get paper one as I always told myself I would wash the next set.. then didnt.

I had a housemate at uni who paid to stream movies that he had upstairs in dvd form.

I've thrown cushions at the living room door rather than get up to close it.

I’ve taught the dog to close doors out of sheer laziness!

I’m going to start taking older clothes on holiday, but instead of throwing them away I’ll send them to the hotel laundry then drop off at a charity shop when I come home.
I have broken my leg, and so far I have used Deliveroo at least once a day for the last week because I can’t bring myself to drag my toddler to the supermarket, and neither can I bring myself to stand up long enough to cook. Thankfully she lives on fruit so it’s just me with the awful diet this week!

When I used to do my own painting and decorating I used to paint round furniture rather than move it away from the wall

He was self employed for years but she didn't like that because he worked very long hours.

And what was she doing all this time? I would have completely understood if you'd said she was looking after the baby, but it appears that she expected him to do that as well.

Was she wanting to get a job herself, so that they could both do a similar (reasonable) amount of hours at work and spend quality time together - or was she still happy for him to earn the money but also wanted him at home to do everything there too, so that she didn't have to lift a finger?

But isn't that just making more work for yourself, if you ever move the furniture around and you then have to find a paint pot in the right colour and a brush, put down plastic sheets etc. and it becomes a whole new job, rather than finishing off the old one? Or is that the whole idea of laziness: that we don't care about the future as long as we can save energy now?!

littlepiggietoes .. you could donate the older holiday clothes at your holiday destination, no need to bring home. Donations likely to be appreciated.

I pay my 8 year old DS to mop the kitchen floor with a flash mop. 50p a day. He usually manages 3 x a week and puts his money in his money box.He is saving for a fossil. 😁

I used to pay my DS to clean the skirting boards to save getting down on my hands and knees .

I can beat that... I still haven't properly unpacked after my hol last October 🙈 done all the washing before we left the holiday place so more or less ready for the next 🙃 😅

Now that is a good idea - especially if you have holiday clothes you may not wear at home otherwise .

We were having our pre Christmas clean before everyone arrived the next day, but I just cba to clean the hob of our cooker so just threw clean tea towels over it. I had just spent god knows how long cleaning the ovens and grill and had had enough. My friend was there and couldn’t believe what she was seeing she still says to this day, almost 10 years on, that this was the funniest thing she had ever seen. I still hate cleaning the hob

That's not lazy - it's the most effective way of cutting it .

Hearing about people ordering takeaways all the time.
Not only are they too lazy to cook, they are too lazy to go and get it?

Well yes - if you are making the effort to drive and fetch it, it would be easier to prepare something at home . Of course you have it delivered (unless you live somewhere this isn't possible).

My son would ring downstairs from his bedroom to ask for a cup of coffee, or ring his sister who was also in bed to ask her to bring him a cigarette.

Let's hope we never have to fight a war.

So many stories of throwing clothes away... as someone with the same Primark beach towels for 20 years, I just can't imagine.

Please donate them rather than send to landfill. Most charity shops accept rag (check locally) - they make money selling it by weight. If you check, they do usually ask you to mark bags of rag clearly so they don't waste time sorting. It gets used in all sorts of ways, for example some will end up as the filling for car seats, carpet underlay, cloths.

When I'm ordering deliveroo I'm too lazy to go down to meet then when I am staying at our flat in London. I insist they come up to my door. If they don't I don't leave a tip.

I know I'm a killjoy but no wonder the planet is screwed.

That said I did almost chuck my plates once in my 20s. I get it. I just couldn't do it. I had a workmate who claimed he binned them rather than wash them

  • We travel often and my partner rarely fully unpacks his suitcase.
  • We’re terrible at taking our Christmas decorations down on time. This year we set a record for earliest time down and managed to take it down in February but still have our Christmas cards up.
  • Laundry rarely gets put away just stays on the air dryer until we’ve used the clean clothes/need it for another laundry load.
  • Our cutlery/plate drawers are usually empty as we rarely put away clean plates after washing - they usually just stay in the drying rack until we use them.
  • I sometimes throw out Tupperware if it looks too difficult to clean. (This one makes me feel guilty)

Bit if a rant coming up.

Yes- people don't care about the future if they can have whatever makes now easy. That's why they can't exist without: fast-food, over-processed food, cars, plastic bags, cheap clothes that they don't look after and chuck away, tat furniture that they change yearly and take to the tip, why we build poorly constructed buildings with cheap cladding, why most apprentices aren't properly trained and can't actually plumb/brick-lay/plaster well and don't understand wood or using it properly. It's why people dump litter everywhere. It's why we have plastic grass.

We're a society who treat the world, our bodies and our environment like shit because it's easier than doing things that require a bit of hard work/effort now, or having to wait to buy things, or find a bin or walk, or take time to learn/help others learn.

Far too many people live like this.
