Went on a first date with a guy I met online last night, went out for dinner. When I got there I definitely found him attractive. However when it came to ordering drinks he ordered himself a glass of milk.
I've honestly never came across someone doing that in a restaurant and I just think it's really odd and really put me off him. I have tried to work out why this was such a turn off and I can't come up with a reason it just made me feel a bit yuck.
AIBU? It's just so odd on a first date I feel.
AIBU?
To be totally turned off by this?

Well who knows. Perhaps he didn't think a cup of tea would go with his cajun chicken, or they don't do the fruit juice he likes. Lots of people in here dint do fizzy drinks. Rule out alcohol too and your choices get limited.

Yes, I like them. I like more than one style of clothes. Is this guy just drinking milk and nothing else?
SleepingStandingUp · 19/11/2022 17:35
But presumably the smarter clothes you wear would be still stuff you liked. Maybe he isn't a fan of fizzy pop and coffee, tea, a glass of hot water and a slice of lemon or or Cordial was worse
DesertIslandCondiment · 19/11/2022 16:27
I like wearing cosy hoodies and trainers but if I were to go a nice restaurant I would wear something smarter. So I would conform. However I enjoy dressing smarter too. Surely this guy doesn't only just drink milk.

A date wouldn't have to have alcohol.
A glass of water with lemon or a coke would be fine.
Quincythequince · 18/11/2022 13:27
I hate milk. Hate it. So I’m quite disgusted by seeing people drink it.
Why are grown mammals, drinking the milk of another species meant for their own young?
Utterly grim. No second date from me.
Thingsthatmakeyougohmmmmmmm · 18/11/2022 17:57
Is cajun chicken spicy? Maybe the milk was to line hid stomach.

Will people stop saying that if you are a lager drinker you are going to get hammered or have an alcohol problem.
Toria33 · 18/11/2022 15:16
it was a bbc tv program about 5-10 years ago so no and yes google so fantastic at being factually accurate, just like wiki eye roll may I also point out that a lot of electrolyte drinks that are not plain water but it contains other things "potassium salts" etc which are also found to be more hydrating than water for the same reasons I explained. water molecules attach to the proteins and salts and allow the body to hold onto it.
Which ever OP is still a young woman who really needs to learn not to judge on frivolous things like drinking milk .. probably going to end up with a jerk or alone.
IMissVino · 18/11/2022 11:27
Do you have a source for this that you can link? As a quick Google indicates that all reputable medical resources are on Team Water.
Toria33 · 18/11/2022 07:43
Nope, I watched a study on it about 15 years ago as there is nothing attached to it it passes through the body very quickly and is quickly converted to urine, watery juice or juice is also more complex so goes through the system slower allowing the body to hold onto it more.
IMissVino · 17/11/2022 22:34
Surely the most hydrating drink you can drink is water?
Toria33 · 17/11/2022 22:28
Did you know that milk is actually the most hydrating drink you can drink? The protein in it makes it work through your system slower. Not only are yta, your weird and judging
