What to eat during hotel stay

Not aibu just posting for traffic.

Our kitchen had a leak and the entire kitchen needs to be ripped out and replaced. Landlord has put us in a hotel for 4 days so the workmen can replace the kitchen including all units and flooring.

The only problem we have is that the hotels restaurant is closed due to covid, they aren't even operating room service. No cooking facilities whatsoever. My daughter has food allergies: all dairy, potato, tomato, kiwi, peanuts, MSG, oranges, shellfish, peaches, aubergine, peppers and cocoa. I have no idea what to feed her with absolutely no cooking facilities. Takeaways aren't an option due to the long list of ingredients and she can't have and the MSG.

Any ideas what to do for food while we are stuck in a hotel for a few days? No family nearby so no way to have meals with them. We won't have a fridge or any cooking facilities. Staying at home isn't an option either, we have to be out of the property whilst the work takes place.

Is there a supermarket nearby? If you want something hot, some do rotisserie chickens and other stuff to go.

Your landlord should be doing better though.

Do explain the situation to the hotel, they may be able to help.

If not a panini press or George forman can be used to cook meats, and same for electric steamers if you have one or can borrow one.

May have been suggested already, but if kitchen is closed it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask hotel to provide a microwave. Or get one delivered via Amazon if they wont.

Could u get a little mini fridge u plug in and just get some things you can eat (from that long list I could never remember every single thing sorry ) that are cooked like ham , gf bread or whatever you can eat /she can eat -maybe gf bread , some 'milk-oat milk or whatever alternative you use , what do you usually eat ? There must be something you can do ? Can you bring the kettle from home and make yourself tea for example ? Some ideas are :
Salads that you buy premade in a supermarket or bags of salad
Fruit that she isn't allergic too (I'm not sure what that could be but I'm sure there is something she eats /can eat)
Hard boiled eggs if u can have those?
Free from milk (whatever u use)
Free from anything that doesn't require refrigerator e.g. gf bread or wraps filled with things like ham or meat of some kind
Or maybe a ready cooked chicken if able /no msg /allergens ?
It might be limited but it might be do able .
I am unsure of you can eat rice noodles but they only require a kettle and boiling waterand a lot of people do pot noodles with them in jam jars with chopped up veg and sauce
Uht yoghirts like soya yoghurts maybe ? Or jelly ?
I'm sorry if I've not included things she can have but I've tried my best to be helpful but it was a long laundry list xx

A halogen oven will do most things, I even make toasted sandwiches in mine, you can do bacon & stuff for breakfast or google slow cooker breakfast, you put everything in the slow cooker the night before & when you get up you have a full cooked breakfast. Take plates, mugs, cutlery, some kitchen roll, washing up liquid, small bin bags, salt, pepper & sauces. Get some slow cooker liners if you buy a slow cooker, save you having to scrub it out.

Order an egg boiler from Argos, they do boiled & poached eggs.

Soup maker and a sandwich toaster.
I make little gram flour flat rolls in my sandwich toaster and soup maker you just plug in and switch on . Veg soup you can add tinned meat to . But basic but easy and you can play with it and eat stuff you know will not produce allergy problems.

I doubt the hotel will be busy so I’m sure if you explain your situation, and that takeaways will be difficult with your DD’s allergies, they will help you out. Maybe put a microwave in a corner of the restaurant for you to access and eat there as I doubt they’d want you preparing food in your room (cooking smells, mess etc).

Why do you have to be out of the house? If you’re going to a hotel to live on crackers and packaged supermarket sandwiches why can’t you stay at home and do that? People don’t usually stay in a hotel when they have a new kitchen put in. It’s only a few days and you can move a microwave and small fridge into the hallway of living room for the few days you’ll have no kitchen. I can understand being moved to a hotel if there’s no bathroom. A toilet is a lot more essential than hot food for 4 days.

We've moved recently and the kitchen is dire, the oven barely works and the hob is impossibly slow. I've bought a cheap Tefal induction hob and a combi microwave with a grill which keeps us going, though we do have a good fridge. I think you'll just have to shop every day as you can't keep food fresh.

A family member had this in august and refused hotel as they need to make sure you have food/somewhere you can cook. I would be going back to them and saying this is not suitable for our circumstances. Maybe they will pay for a microwave or a little 2 hob (we were given one when our kitchen was replaced a few years ago).

We do this all the time on holiday . Has the hotel got a small fridge in room for milk or can you take an ice box ? We normally do a small shop on Arrival for our child with allergies . Make sure you have a kettle . These things should be available in your room really as it’s not your fault the kitchen needs replacing .

I have an electric cool box that's on wheels with a handle for pulling it along. Could you possibly borrow one? Or even buy one? It's pretty light when it's empty so not too difficult on the train etc.

Maybe ask the Landlord to organise a lift for you so that you can take a few essentials. I managed for a year with an induction ring, a microwave and a slow cooker. I suppose 4 days is too short a time to organise too much. Why not talk to hotel and see if they will store homemade items in their fridge for you if kitchen not in use, then you would only need a microwave. Probably have better luck if its a small independent rather than one of the big chains with 'rules'.

We have a small electronic grill it’s great and can get it on Amazon not to expensive think £28. Can cook almost everything you would on normal stove we have used it in a caravan and tent so would be ok for hotel room and just wipes clean just buy food daily maybe and cook or could buy electronic cooler
