AIBU?

To be annoyed by the expression "hand-picked"?

You get this expression all over the place now, but it's found especially in holiday ads.

Cottages, hotels, "experiences" are "hand-picked". Or worse "curated".

It's taken over from "pan-fried" (what else would you fry something in if not a pan?) as a thing that makes me stabby.

I'm sure others have similar phrases that give them the rage.

(And yes, I know there are worse things in the world, etc but this is AIBU and this thing annoys me).

One more I didn't see above - 'hand-dived' scallops ..... not even grammatically correct FFS

What they mean here is scallops that have been picked up by divers using their hands, as opposed to being mechanically dredged up along with half the seabed that nobody wants, so the sustainable option that is worth paying extra for. I suppose if they said 'diver caught' or diver harvested' that would be better.

freshly cut sandwiches really annoys me. I feel like its ok if you made the sandwich 2 weeks ago but you waited until the customer was there until you actually cut it!

Also when travel reporters (on the radio) describe a "nasty" accident ...as if there are some that are reasonable or even pleasant...?

Words like 'good' and 'decent' when attributed to food and drink

ie 'decent coffee with toast made from good bread'

OP - I couldn't agree more. As well as the examples you give, I cannot bear the misuse of absorbs, as in a cream or lotion "absorbs easily". No it doesn't. It doesn't absorb your skin, your skin absorbs it therefore it is easily absorbed, but marketers can't say that for some reason.

I feel better for getting that off my chest. Must go and get a barista style coffee now.

I don't want to consume anything with the word anal in it thanks.
