My newborn doesn’t smoke, he sleeps Blush

We have this exact problem. There are 3 adults in the house and they go outside to smoke, and in rotation are constantly smoking, from 6am to nearly midnight. It comes directly into our bedroom (where my newborn also smokes). Haven’t felt able to say anything though. And yes, it does reek.

@okiedokieme think I'm prepared to move if it takes that long 😂

I managed to get the council to act when it happened to us, but they were smoking weed so I had a bit more leverage. Took about 6 months mind you

@Freezerrr thank you Smile. Both me and my daughter are asthmatic, I just didn't think it was relevant really as they should be a bit more considerate regardless!

@@DamnYouAutoCabbage I am nice to them, I've not been nice to you as you're not a particularly nice person yourself. I treat people how they treat me. Calling me unstable when you don't me? I'd say you're being abusive right there.

@TARSCOUT I say things like that anonymously, I absolutely hate confrontation. It's their selfish attitude that's the problem, I'm actually very polite to them, especially with my 'initial request'

I would just ask politely again and repeat if necessary, eventually it will stop.

@PissedOff27 you've already had a post deleted for being abusive. My children aren't 'poor', they have a stable mother you see.

The way you talk to people is a disgrace. If you talk to your neighbour like that, perhaps they do it on purpose. You need to address your attitude, it's an Internet forum. Everyone with an opinion can comment, shock horror!

Your neighbour may oblige if you're actually nice.

Put a load of plants on the windowsill - these will need watering or spraying every time they start smoking - and you could accidentally miss the plant pots when you're watering of course.

"This is why I can't stand smokers, don't give a toss that they are impacting on someone else's life"
"Stop being such a tnuc".
With an attitude like this that's probably why they're ignoring your initial request.

@DamnYouAutoCabbage because it's not happening to, you can't understand. You are one of those who can't see past their own circumstances.

@Thepigeonsarecoming that doesn't solve my problem right now. I can't exactly move furniture on my own.

@Swiftsseason

Aren’t HMOs supposed to have licences now? Plus different tax regs. You could report to both HMRC and the council.

@PissedOff27 calling me a cunt? Aren't you a delight.. No, I have children and I don't smoke. I just have an aversion to complete drama queen's.

Your attitude to people who disagree with you says it all. As a pp pointed out, in this weather, I find it highly unlikely that its that bad you have to decamp and your whole house is stinking. Your windows wouldn't even be open on this weather!

@Milkshake54

Just wondering, as it seemed to seep into my flat, even with the windows closed. I couldn’t figure out how, as they were new build flats with no fireplaces etc. I’m guessing there must have been some ventilation built into the flooring, or something and that was letting it in.

I would close DDs window and put a fan in there if it gets too hot. Much better than sticking the fan out the window.

I don't think There's much you can do if they are on their own property unfortunately
