To not like my nose and want a nose job

I have been ok with my nose most of my life and not really paid much attention to my appearance / face etc much. However, recently I've decided to take care of myself, wear nicer clothes, improve skin etc trying to exercise. Just trying to look and feel better as I'm getting older. In my "mot" of what needs improving it dawned on me that I have quite a crap nose. Now all I see in the mirror is my nose! I'm beginning to really hate it and have even started researching plastic surgeons etc. It's sort of a square nose with no definition. Like a blob of a nose on my face!

DH thinks I've gone crazy and it's a faze. And says my nose is just fine etc. But I don't believe him! Am I crazy?! Has anyone else done this?

I have had a nose job and I honestly don't recommend it. The healing process is disgusting, it was nothing like the cute tiny bruises in the YouTube videos I watched. My entire face was green, yellow, purple and brown for weeks and weeks and massively swollen. It looked worse than the swelling you'll have seen on some boxers after their fights. And then after that, it takes 2 years for your nose to heal fully. It can even look worse for a year or so. After 2 years, my nose looks pretty much the same as it did in the first place. Everyone has told me that it looks no different, and it really doesn't. To top that off I'm paying the whole thing off for about another 3 years 🙄 Just to add to this, if your nose looks like the one pictured, I really can't see anything wrong with it.

Your face, your choice.

@conduitoffortune

That was not my experience at all. I healed quickly, minimal bruising and my nose looked fantastic after the bandages were taken off.

I think this highlights the importance of having a good surgeon

Well the surgeon that I used had great reviews so it's obviously a bit of a Russian roulette

Maybe it also depends on what actually was done to your nose. Some work might be more internal and cause more bruising/ longer healing etc.

“It can’t be that bad if you’ve only just noticed it!”

“If you had always hated it I could see the point. But if you're only just now hating it and it's the same as it's always been. You really have to ask yourself why.”

Noses don’t stay the same! The cartilage continues to grow until the day we die. That is exactly what the OP is noticing now and why she is seeing less definition (the “blobbiness” that she never noticed before).

OP, obviously NOT getting a nose job would be preferable. They are expensive, unpredictable, involve recovery, discomfort and risk. Maybe look into the non-surgical options. But if it’s really making you miserable, you could make an appointment for a consultation and discuss what can actually be done for someone with a nose like yours, and for what price.

(I see the difference between the before and after on the pic you sent. I think it looks good. It’s up to you if you think such a subtle change would be worth the expense and inconvenience for you.
