Too young to be a mum?!

Short background: I'm 21, and I look after my DNiece (9mo) a lot of days of the week. It's my DB's child. Baby's mum is 16 and is not very involved. As a result my brother has baby majority of the week so I help when he's at work meaning I'm out with her in public most days.

I've just been told by a woman on the bus 'you mums are getting younger and younger'. It bloody pisses me off. Have people of all ages not been having babies for all time? And it annoys me most it comes from the generation that were married and had babies by my age.

I don't know why people think they have the right to comment.

I was 19, heavily pregnant and needed to be rushed to hospital as I had started bleeding at 40 weeks (dd was born a few hours later and everything was fine luckily). Paramedic was taking my history and when he found out my age said ‘blimey, do you not have a tv?’.

Twat. I wish I’d complained, it really upset me to be judged at a time when I was so vulnerable by the person I needed to rely on.

I am a bit plump in the middle with huge boobs. I also work in retail (as the management). I had a customer tell me I should have waited until I was older, wiser and had more to offer in life, really, shouldn't I?
Pissed me off and my colleagues with DC- who all have very different backgrounds and reasons for working in retail at that time- but fitting around DC was often a reason.

I had my first at 21 and my last at 39 and I know what one I preferred!
A young mum with a baby is a lovely sight in my opinion and completely natural. Just ignore them and be proud of yourself that you are helping to raise your little neice.
