I mean ideally as in no time/age/money/fertility/cultural conventions/partner/lack of support etc barriers. How many would you have/have had?
For me.. about 6 or 7. I have two and one on way but have always loved the idea of big family.

I always wanted two. Then I had DD who just happened to be the most horrific pregnancy and birth ever, so I'm sticking with one!

I'm 18wks pregnant with my first at 39yrs old!
Ideally I would love 2 children but if he is all we have time for I will feel exceptionally lucky we got the chance for our one little boy.

I have 3, would have loved 4 ( or more) but am only earner and so mat leaves were very expensive. More money would have meant more babies.

I was envious of a mum who had five in a magazine feature the other day... Blush
I've one DD (seven months) and would love at least one more, but it will probably just be the one due to my age (38).

I have 2.

DH wants 3. In an ideal world I'd like to make that wish come true but in reality I just couldn't cope - my health problems, plus lack of family support...

I always thought it would be 4. We got to three though, and realised it was perfect for us. No regrets!

Once wanted 3, but since health issues became apparent now very happy with the 2 I have. Don't drive, so car not the same issue.

I've always said I wanted four, and I have four. If I really had unlimited time and space then I'd maybe go a couple more, but happy enough with four.
I have 3 boys and a girl, so if it would be guaranteed a girl I'd maybe have five so that my dd could have a sister to grow up with

2 (I have 3, no4 on the way) Grin
And that will definitely be it!

I want 4.

I wish I could have 4. I love my dd to pieces but she's starting school in a year and I'm already missing having a baby at home!

I'd love four as I grew up in a big family and loved it. My partner would prefer two.

1 and we have 1. Have no desire for any more as life is pretty perfect as we are.

I'd love a football team tbh!
But I have one and will only have one. He is my world though and I'm so incredibly thankful for him.

Ideally I'd like one and for it to be a daughter.

  1. I'm pregnant with number 4, I'll have 2 girls and 2 boys and that's perfect for me, so I'll be sterilised after this one

4 if I was younger, had money and was a SAHM.

I have 2 which I'm bloody grateful for and we're sticking at that. It's a great number (that's what I keep telling myself anyway - my biological clock is screaming at me to have more !)

4

One.

2 seems perfect

1 i would worry about them being alone. 3 or more just makes things less and less practical in so many ways

4, in a heart beat.
We have 3. Undecided about another, mainly due to financial worries.

We have one, are TTC #2 and I'd like four I think.

If you'd asked me before kids I'd have said four. Now I have my children the answer has changed to two...

Had dd at at 39. Many many losses to manage two healthy babies including one in third trimester. 40 was my cut off and there was a 3.5 year gap. I just couldn't risk more heartbreak.

Remains my only regret.

can I be nosy and ask what age felt too late?

40. I didn't feel it was too old but it was for me. Had last dc at 37 & started trying for baby #5 at 40. I got pregnant twice, once at 41 and again at 42. Lost both at around 14 weeks. Too upsetting to try again and just accepted I'd left it too late.
I'm extremely lucky to have had 4.
