SlinkyB - if you've a Tesco with an Irish foods section they should have Cidona. And Club Orange. This St Patrick's Day I introduced the Brownies to the former (& the next day the empty bottle was upcycled into the greenhouse we helped build in our local park...) & they took a worrying amount of convincing there was no alcohol in it... (They feasted on mix of buttered [toasted] soda bread & potato cakes, crumbs of Barmbrack [they were good about trying it but none liked it], & the nobly-accepted ration of Kimberley biscuits & Jam Mallows. Honest to God the latter are almost enough to make me abandon vegetarianism. None of this bacon sandwich business... I really wish I'd got some Mint Crisp chocolate to round off my childhood nostalgia It would now kill me as my dairy allergy decided to be, um, different, in its progression. Not to say it wouldn't be worth it, though...).
But I have digressed... mercifully I was only given 7UP that had been let go flat when I was poorly, not that had been boiled.
I drink Diet fizzy drinks anyway, so the change doesn't really make much odds to me...
What I do wish they'd bring back, though, is the sheer deliciousness that = vanilla Diet Coke. I used to live off that when I was at uni. As did my best friend there The lemon version is rank: how I imagine Diet Coke would taste if you were to splash some lemon washing-up liquid into it. TBH I suspect that might make for a nicer drink. And the cherry stuff smells so wrong I've not been able to make myself taste it...
I wonder if mixing cream soda & Diet Coke would make a kind of Diet Vanilla Coke. Or just carbonated post-modern minimalist Yuck Soup...
They sell regular Vanilla Coke, I know, but I don't like it. And the mix of sugar & caffeine does not like me...
