Isn't this just another form of discrimination, www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-37265752
Argument seems to be on financial reason rather than health, do we stop nhs services for people who smoke, or those who drink too much etc. Where does one draw a line?!

Janetizzy, no it isn't fair.

I am in the same boat as your mum, and this sort of thing scares me a lot.

Nice .Addiction is a MH issue. So just make sure you cut out all funding for mh issues not just the ones that make you look less hot in mini skirt.

Harrogate were featured on the news tonight. Apparently they are planning to do the same.

PhilomenaFlump i agree. i am always frustrated that the commonest eating disorder (compulsive eating) has the least funding for treatment.

also i think all self destructive behaviours should either all be treated or none of them. uniquely singling out fat people and not alcoholics, athletes who damage their bodies by injury/overtraining, suicide attempts, ski injuries, overdoses, car crashes etc is stupid in my opinion. they all should be treated as deserving of help or none of them should be. i don't see how fat people are any less deserving than those other examples.

anyway aren't health tourism and people missing appointments a far bigger threat to the NHS

an anorexic rightly should be treated for their resultant osteoporiosis and heart disease caused by their eating disorder. exactly the same applies to the obese.

I saw a short 5 min film just after the Channel 4 news tonight about a young woman with an aggressive form of breast cancer. One of her treatments involves steroids. She was talking about how the weight gain as well as the mastectomy had affected her confidence.

SOOOOO Slow hand clap for Harrogate for releasing this news in Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
