Honestly, the amount of declarations about what is healthy and unhealthy.. its ridiculous.

if you listened to everyone on here we'd all have to be vegans and living off sucking water through a celery stick.

Just shut up. If you honestly think food like Sausages, Mashed Potato, Tomato Soup, bread, cheese, milk and most fruit are unhealthy, the you're teaching your kids into eating disorders.

I like that Stately. Will carry on using the erm very healthy sugar then.

Weird isn't it? To see a boast contains real sugar! Reminds me of the weird boast on fruit flavour products that contain real fruit! The world of processed food is bloody odd.

Yes it is, Stately - my first degree was in Food Science and I learnt enough there to decide I didn't really fancy working in the food industry!

calories is a fairly normal amount for losing weight. If you are trying to lose a pound a week you need a deficit of 3500 calories a week, every week. Plus you probably have a disordered relationship with food that makes it very difficult to do this, more so than a thin person who has never been fat. And you now can't eat any treats, you go into the supermarket and it's full of food that is 'not for you' while your thin partner is fine with it. Basically it's having been fat once that has irretrievably fucked up your metabolism for ever more

I used to be fat, as a kid I was slim a young adult slim in my mid 20's I got incredibly fat. I now fluctuate between a size 6 and a size 8 if I'm fair I'm probally nearer a 10 now (but I did have a baby a few days ago) I don't need to follow any strict diet, I eat what I want when I want and don't even think about calories or good and bad food.
The vast majority of the friends I made at the slimming classes I went to are much the same now.

Being fat does not have to fuck you up forever,

Let me try to simplify this. The only foods which I've never heard vilified by the nutrition loons experts on Mumsnet are:
Avocados
Fish (wild, not farmed)
Organic chicken
Eggs
Olive oil
Leafy green veg
Quinoa
Brazil nuts
Porridge
Full fat Greek yoghurt
Milk
Water

Absolutely everything not on the permitted list is either 'full of sugar', 'full of carbs' or bad for you for some other obscure reason.
I mean, come on, how hard can it be? We all know how much kids love avocados and Brazil nuts, right?

Ah careful with the eggs

Unless they are from your own chickens or you personally know the chicken, eggs are a no no too

MissHoolie In RL, I have had family asking me whether I'm sure that avocado and nuts are appropriate for my children, on account of them being too high in fat. Hmm

Milk is just disgusting - yukey stuff, fortunately as my mum was asthmatic I was never forced to drink as a child. Had my bones tested five years ago and they are above average density so hasn't done me any harm not drinking that vile stuff
