Or maybe it's the WineWineWine

Dreadfully dull IMO, I'm always surprised by what passes as entertainment

Suprised how many adults watch these two. Any time I have seen them on TV they seemed to be aiming at an audience of pre-teens. Just don't see the attraction myself.

I adore them too - they're just so damn nice. And professional, too - without looking slick.
OP - you should track down the podcast of their Desert Island Discs. I defy anyone to listen to that and not come away thinking "what lovely blokes".

Of course the jokes/gags are all well rehearsed. All entertainment is rehearsed.

I do think, rehearsal aside, they are genuinely funny and the relationship between them is brilliant to watch.

Dec in particular has great comic timing. He reminds me of Ernie Wise. Morecambe and Wise were HIGHLY rehearsed. There was a really interesting documentary years back about how Eric Morecambe wrote their material.

I can't stand them and wouldn't watch anything that had them in
They just have nothing about them

YANBU. I love them. They're such a refreshing change from the talentless, no personality presenters that are given air time over the winter months. I'm looking at you Tess Daley, Claudia Winkleman, Caroline Flack.

I like them.

We all sit down together to watch SNTA, and I think it's good fun. The Gino DaCampo thing was very funny.

It's cheesy and daft, but I feel quite nostalgic as that's what Saturday night tv was like when I was a child.

They are far too over exposed - I used to quite like them but they just seem to pop up everywhere these days and the gags are clearly rehearsed/staged. They were rubbish on the Brits the other night and were the most unfunny folk there (apart from Alan Carr who I can't stand)

YANBU.

I adore Ant and Dec. Have done since I was 13. Dec is on my List. Grin Watch anything with them in as they make the shows.

I went to their live SNTA tour. Was in the front row. Was absolutely amazing and they just wanted to make a fab show for their fans. Was the best night of my life!

I have fond childhood memories of watching them on TV with my Grandparents whenever I stayed over on a Saturday night. I can't remember what it was called, but Ant & Dec did a very similar programme back in the 90's. We also used to love watching Stars In Their Eyes, and would take 10p bets on who would win Grin

I don't watch Saturday night family tv anymore - now I've grown up, it's not as funny or exciting as it was when I was 9 or 10.

although I still watch re-runs of Stars In Their Eyes

Actors get engaged, what's the beef, it was good television.

SouthWestmom · 27/02/2016 22:03

I think it's odd too, them being actors.

Actors do what? She genuinely had no idea her parents went out there, nor that he would propose.

sparkling the girl who got engaged last week is a friend of mine. There was nothing untoward about it.

Sparkling.. that is how I feel. It is not just grubs (though I can't agree with breeding them to be used for vacuous people to eat live). Totally unnecessary. They also used rats, snakes etc in enclosed spaces/a not-nice environment for the sake of a TV show. Leave the animals out it.

I think Bill Nighy sums them up perfectly in this clip from "Love Actually"

what is 'clean' entertainment, bearing in mind mary whitehouse though jimmy saville was a wholesome clean entertainer
