AIBU?

Our village Christmas lights are on!

AIBU?! We got back from visiting the Blackpool illuminations yesterday evening to find illuminations of our own up along the main road. Children in their Halloween costumes were trick or treating under Christmas lights!! Nobody else I've spoken to in the village has mentioned it. It can't be just me thinking this is ridiculous. Has anybody else got Christmas stuff up yet?

I don't think Christmas light should be turn on until after Remembrance Sunday.

Just walked the dog and they're still on. Apparently they've been on since Thursday. I'm hoping GruntledOne that it is just an accidentally flicked switch. I have heard a bit of complaining about them today. Maybe the council will come to their senses and turn them off again.

The Oxford St lights are turned on tonight. It's the earliest it's ever been, I believe.

Been at the Trafford Centre today and the decorations are up and one of the shops we went in were playing Christmas music. Aaaagh!!

I love Christmas but I hate it that stupid retailers try to push it on us so soon.

We're they testing them? Ours get turned on and left for a night to check they work, after the disastrous year they wouldn't switch on!

None here. The village Christmas tree goes up at the end of this month and its lights are switched on at the start of December.

That seems about right to me. Plenty early enough.

Nope no Christmas things up here, too early. They tend to go up in the borough at the end of November. Ours go up in our flat the first week of December.

we do however have Santa Claus on Christmas24 since there is nothing else on

contact the parish council and tell them to pull the plug until Dec 1st. Electricity is not free and starting tat-mas this early just makes it an even bigger bore than it need be.

Hotels along the seafront here are all decorated & I think the 'Tinsel 'n' Turkey' breaks started this week end!

Random apostrophe in neighbours there!

I noticed that neighbour's of my parents had their external fairy lights up yesterday.

Mind you, for all I know they might leave them on all year and I just happened to see them because it was the first time I'd been at my folks in the dark since about New year time! Grin

Could it be a mistake? Our lights have been put up but they won't be switched on till the end of November. I'm wondering whether someone flipped the switch in your village by accident.
