I'm 40....I just bought a glittery nail polish because I liked it and then it struck me...am I too old? Confused

I'm a bt. I regularly paint the nails of a 92yr old. Last week she copied a magazine, again.

French modern polish, nude nail colour with fluro pink half moon and nail edges.

Last week? Vampy red with zebra stripes.

She's who I wanna be....

I'm sad because I can't wear nail varnish for work.... but my mum who is 65 wears glittery or pastel coloured nail varnish and it looks very pretty.

Anyway, the attitude of "I'm too old to..." just leaves you looking meh and frumpy imho.

Some fabulous talons on here.

I'm 50 this year, gave up a lifetime's nail-biting habit 18 months ago (yay me!) and am now an 'Opi' addict. I even have a special case with all my manicure equipment, polishes etc and can spend quite a happy evening adorning my newly acquired nails. Age is a state of mind...

I'm 48!! At the minute my pinky, index and thumb are gunmetal glitter with diamanté. My ring finger has a grey base with rose gold glitter/black leopard print. Middle finger has rose gold glitter base with black zebra print!! Go for it!!

I'm in my forties and wear glittery nail varnish Grin

I am going to get some more. I love it. My nails aren't long long but they're decent length and as the beds are long they seem to be more talon like if I grow them too much.

I wear glittery nail varnish and I am 54, so does my friend who is 70. I also have some of the stuff with big chunks of shiny stuff in it. I love it. AFAIK nail varnish doesn't have 'not to be worn by the over forties' written on the label - and if it did, that would make me even more likely to wear it [grin

I'm 46 and my nails are very short, if they are painted it's blue or purple often with sparkle on the ring finger if not all of them.

If I do something pale and tasteful it just looks like an apology for them not being impressive talons.

Another 42 year old with disco toes here - although i do switch to pale pink in the summer months for a more professional looking foot...

I've got a pale pink glittery shimmering polish on today, it's almost summer so why not? Never too old for a bit of sparkle.

my fridge door trays have been take over by nail varnish. every colour, shade and glitter galore. Ordinary and gels, every time I reach for the milk with my be-jewelled fingers I feel happy.

I'm 49 :)

I remember years ago those ghastly pair Trinny and Susannah had a book and TV series called 'What to Wear'. They gave Carol Vorderman a right roasting over something she wore that she was 'too old' for. She said she was going to make a rival TV show called 'I'll Wear What I Bloody Well Like' Grin I wish someone would still make that program!

I was confident, from the title of your thread, that you were 50 or 55 plus, OP! Forty?? That's when life begins, remember ....!

The question is not are you too old but does it suit you and your style!

Sounds lovely btw. I am 43 and pale. Red over beige anyday! (beige is vile on me).

Yy to Barry M, I have silver foil and it's fab. Currently sporting turquoise toes and have just bought a new navy varnish.

Absolutely not BU. I can't stand all this 'ooh you're over XX so can't do this that and the other'. Wear what you like and enjoy it!

the nail varnish in poundland is surprisingly good. I brought some glittery ones for dd as shes 8 and wanted glitter, but they are so good, ive been using them. Hot pink glitter, lighter pink and a rainbow effect one. bargains. (I'm 38)
