to think i have a hummus problem...

I love, worship, adore the stuff. So anything possible in it, bread sticks, cucumber, pitta bread, tomatoes, crisps fingers and peppers.
Thing is dh says I don't dip as such, more shovel.

I buy 4 tubs a week, have it with most meals and snack at night.

So how much it's too much? It's it good for you? Other been avoiding checking the calorie content just in case it's horrendous.

I have just been to hummus heaven

warm fresh pita bread with red pepper and extra garlic sabra hummus :) I squeezed a little extra lemon on too was delicious

did not bother cooking dinner

what's in the shop stuff if it's not loive oil then?

probably generic veg oil ,

cook at work uses rapeseed oil when she makes hers ,

waitrose used to do lovely hummus on their deli but they don't do it now and the stuff in the tubs isn't as nice

aldi's is the nicest hummus I've had

Exhaustipated - try the Sabra one. It's not like other hummuses, which I sometimes struggle to eat.

Just give me a pack of kettle chips and a tub (or two) of Sabra and I'm a happy woman.

I haven't tried the lemon one though!

Guess what I had for lunch? Grin

1 can chickpeas, drained. Clove or three, I work from home of garlic. Juice and zest of a lemon and a lime. Blob of tahini, about 2tsp olive oil - blend. Quick and cheap.

I add salt and pepper after as DH has to avoid sodium and DD doesn't like pepper.

Had some in a nice seeded wholemeal roll with a lot of coriander leaves (again, DD doesn't like them).

Reckon it must be a lot less calorific than a cheese sarnie - why worry about a bit of olive oil, given you don't need to butter the bread? But it'd probably be nice enough without oil. And it's a good way to get kids to eat veg sticks, as a dip.

I spread it on my toast and put a poached egg on top.

Hidden, it's basically olive oil, chick peas, salt, garlic, lemon juice, and tahini. All whizzed up together. I make my own, because I like to go heavy on the tahini.

Hummus is yum, but terribly calorific when you shovel it in like me

I've never tried making it with water though, might be a good plan. Last night I ruined all my good work in the gym by coming home and scoffing half a pot.

It is possibly the world's most divine foodstuff. Try mixing in some rose harrissa for extra divinity. My mouth is literally watering as I type.

Oh, and obviously don't substitute olive oil with water!

I have been eating it solidly for about 30 years and show no signs of going off it.

hiddenhome - it looks revolting but it's a delicious dip/spread made from crushed chickpeas, pulped sesame seeds, oil, salt and garlic.

Mmmmmmmmm. Am currently eating a hummus and chorizo sandwich :-D eat waaaay too much of the stuff. My 2yo ds is addicted too!

Sabra hummus is the absolute schizz, I'll never eat supermarket stuff again! It was 2 for £2.50 in sainsburys last week

Oh, I'm another hummous addict as well. Not had any for ages but this week I've been getting through tons of the stuff!
Have you tried the red pepper hummous or the moroccan topped ones? YUM YUM YUM.
Hiddenhome it's a chickpea based spread with oil and stuff in. Did I mention it's yummy?! Smile

Most shop-bought hummus is very high in salt, which might be worth considering if you're eating a lot of it. I make my own and don't make it as salty.

I'm officially over hummus. I ate so much over a period of about 15 years that I now no longer like it :(
I'm afraid one day it will happen to you all. Enjoy it while it lasts before it starts tasting like sick

Aaaa, lovely when you suddenly feel like you are not alone...I get through about 3 tubs a week. I make my own too sometimes. Agree the Sabra stuff Is beautiful. Don't like any other flavours in mine.
