AIBU?

AIBU to be thinking my clothes should fit by now?

My ds is just over 5 weeks and was born by c section. I never was a big exerciser but do walk 30 mins about 5 times a week. Some of my clothes fit me but lots don't.

AUBU to wish my skinny jeans didn't give me a squishy belly?
Will I fit into my clothes again? Get your crystal ball please!! I'm trying to be careful what I eat but don't always succeed!

I keep reading about women who lost the baby weight within a week or so. Definitely not me. Am 10 stone 1 and ore baby was 9 stone 8.

Five weeks? You daft bugger Grin. Give yourself a break (and avoid full length mirrors when you're naked - trust me, the day after a c-section you do not want to be confronted with that)

I've had 5 babies! When i was young&fit i could get back into my clothes in about2 weeks, with dc1 &2.

Im size 8. By dc5 it was taking a bit longer....

So my tip is go&buy just 1or 2 pairs jeans in a bigger size. Also tummy control pants...the bigger the better!

Honestly if you seen me naked i look like a deflated old balloon but good underwear &a decent fitting pair jeans& you will (most importantly) feel better.

Take care of yourself & you new baby. There's loads of time to get into skinny jeans.

Re the celeb 'snap back' - it's also how they act in pregnancy, not what they do afterwards that matters. At my work there's a female partner who was determined to do the 'snap back' so she had a dietian decide what she should eat when pregnant (no pigging out, no giving in to cravings, she still ate salad for lunch most days and still cut out most carbs) - she only allowed herself an extra 400 calories a day to her pre-pregnancy diet (and she was on a restricted diet beforehand). She was still seeing a personal trainer when pregnant 3 times a week - getting someone who specialised in pregnant woman. She had beautician treatments weekly that were focused on the skin on the bump.

She did manage the 'snap back' quite well, but then her DS was rather small given her and her DH's heights and both their family norms for big babies...

Basically, if you wait until you've had the baby to start thinking about getting your figure back, you've left it too late if you want to do it quickly.

If by the time your DC is 7-8 months and you still aren't seeing an improvement, then think about increasing your exercise, but just enjoy yourself for now.

And buy new cheap jeans in a larger size rather than trying to squeeze into too small ones.

17months ago I had DS by section and still don't fit into my pre pregnancy jeans. I've been left with a shelf above my scar. Also I only stopped bf 3 weeks ago and only now starting to lose weight.
Give yourself a break op, it's not healthy to lose weight so quickly after giving birth. Your body's been through too much already. I know lots of slebs do it but they have nutritionists, trainers, chefs and nannies (so no night waking for any of them), so they have way more support than us mere mortals. They probably have an army of assistants just to divert them from the chocs and cake!

step away from all magazines only celebs get body back in 6 weeks because they have help trainers nannies house keepers etc

it is not just the weight it is the stomach muscles I think current advice is that you should not do sit ups etc before 6 weeks after birth

I am same wight as before DD ( now 3) but not same shape was hourglass with narrow waist now waist larger

just give it more time skinny jeans are not forgiving

My baby was 4 years old this week and I still am not back to what I was before I conceived him.

I put way too much pressure on myself and coupled with an underactive Thyroid, I didn't lose the weight like I normally would.

It has lead to me having a massive mental block re losing weight and I now weigh about 20lbs more than when I weighed myself 2 weeks post partum. (when I was 10lbs off my pre baby weight)

No idea to get myself sorted! I'm stuck in a cycle of losing a bit then spectacularly falling off the wagon.

But my message to you OP is to go easy on yourself, enjoy your baby, eat healthily (most if the time) and get out with the pushchair!
But don't put pressure on yourself.

After dc1 I went back to pre pregnancy size and smaller after 1 year. With Dc2 I feel my hips have widened and my size 10 jeans won't fit me around the hips. It's like my bones have opened up. DS is 14 months and I'm pregnant again so haven't lost weight quickly this time unfortunately.

Keep exercising. You'll get there.

It took me 4 months, but my skin is still a bit stretchy at the front. I guess that will never go away.

emilythornesbff well since you ask.... Grin

It's a WOE (way of eating) where you eat up to your recommended caloric intake on 5 days a week and only have 500 cal per day on the other 2. That is it! Variations on the theme include 4:3 and alternate day fasting (one day on, one day off essentially). I started it at the end of August last year at 98.3kg and was down to 86kg a few weeks ago. Lots of it came off in the first 3 months though, I was delighted! I had a 1mo DS and a 14mo toddler when I started, so it is doable with a baby. All you really need to do is pick your starve-day foods carefully and stick to them . Not sure about whether you can do it while BF though.

There is a longstanding thread devoted to it, I recommend you take a look!

A) your baby is FIVE WEEKS OLD- give yourself a break, woman!

B) my mother walked out of the maternity ward having stayed in for five days when I was born... In her size 10 jeans. This is not hereditary; I am on a diet now and my kids are 3 and 1.

DD is eight. I'm getting my coat now. Blush

Seriously, though, I found my actual body shape changed after pregnancy. My thighs, which had always been quite slim, got really chunky and it's taken a long time for them to get back to what they were, even when I lost loads of weight from everywhere else. Also my stomach muscles were damaged (c-section after 36 hour labour) and I had to do special exercises before they began to look anything like normal.

You're being utterly ridiculous Wink

Stop stressing about your jeans and enjoy your DD. Your belly may be squishy, but so is she, and she won't be tiny and squishy for long.

5 weeks?! Well done. My dd is 5 months and am just fitting in my jeans now. Grin
Take it easy and be kind to yourself, you've had a major operation. It'll come back eventually and I agree 9 months on and 9 months off....

Ah, Pinkflipflop I feel your pain butyou're doing very well indeed.
I too have a 5 week old baby(congratulations btw) and I can only look longingly at my "tiny" clothes gathering dust. I managed to zip up my pre -pregnancy jacket yesterday but that was like getting toothpaste back into the tube Grin.
But it does happen. A little more patience and some gentle walks. It's frustrating not having the time (or energy ATM) to get to the gym and buff up!

My batty mother cried the day after she had me because her old clothes didn't fit 'yet' Hmm so you're not alone op!!

I didn't lose weight until I went on the 5:2 diet, even though I'd been trying to eat healthily until then. Mind you I then went on to lose quite a lot (13kg and counting, not smug at all).....

Envy of anyone only half a stone adrift!

Oh and yes agree with utopian my body stubbornly held onto extra weight until I'd stopped bf.

You sound like you're doing just fine :)

It took my stomach ages to reduce after my Caesarian, there was a lot of swelling (it is major surgery), and it's still slightly rounded now. Though i think that may be a permanent change, I am working on it.

I know it's difficult but please don't be too hard on yourself, as a previous poster sensibly said, 9 months on, 9 months off.
