Yes we did, with both DDs.

DD1 is now 9, and DD2 is 7.

Mine both hardly ate any sort of food, just breastmilk, for at least a year! Blush They just weren't that interested and preferred milk.

In fact they kind of were like this till they were about 3.

I do wonder if I should have tried harder.

4 months and so proud of myself, but almost on my knees. (Teens now)

I did with no2 son but only because he simply refused everything we offered him. He wouldn't have anything other than milk until he was about 8-9 months old, and then he accepted a tiny taste of something no1 son was eating and graually got the hang of the food lark Grin
The others were all well before 6 months though - 3-4 months iirc for first tastes of food.

yes with DS2 but not with DS1 as when he was born the recommendation was 4 months

We didn't, but then we were advised by the doctor to wean early

DD1 is 14 and I think the advice was much less strident to wait until 6 months.
Can't remember, but a bit before I think, not that she ate anything.

DD2(11) was 5 month's.
Advice was firmly 6, but she fell off the chart, wouldn't take a bottle off anyone.
In desperation I'd give her a taste of baby yoghurt. The consultant gave his blessing to carry on.

She ate beautiful and climbed to the 50% line by a year old.

Sadly as she's got older she's got really fussy to feed. DD1 (who ate nothing as a baby) eats anything.

You can't win!

I didn't see your last post before posting. You can try her with some food and see what she does.

5 months for both.

DD1 (11) 4 months (that was the guidelines then)
DD2 (7) waited till 6 months but she wasn't really interested even then and didn't really get the hang of it until about 8 months

Not with the first one, he was sick all the time everywhere and I thought that food might stay down a bit better. He was about 5 months I think.

6 months with the second.

5.5 months with DD. She was 6 wks prem so not sure whether she should have started earlier or later but she was well ready.

6 month with DS, he's been fully breastfed and tbh at 16 months still thinks food is for fun, eats like a sparrow and sees breastmilk as his lifeline still!

Me. I'm a lazy bint. easier to just feed the baby myself than get out a spoon and feed him food.
After 6 months solid foods were still hit and miss I used to forget and just breastfeed.

a little over four years. daughter and i had thought she would stop after her fourth birthday, but she had a cold which delayed it for a few weeks.

Honestly cannot for the life of me remember, but I think it probably was about six months. I spent the first year of his life reading guidebooks and torturing myself with the thought I'd get it all 'wrong' so can't imagine I'd have had the gumption needed to do something that wasn't 'advised'.

BiscuitNibbler · 08/10/2012 22:11

I strictly kept to 6 months, but DD cheated by stealing things from our plates from 5 months.

4 years lovebuuny?

Your DD didn't try solids till she was 4 years old? Confused

Report

Six months with both my dd's. But out of 12 mums in my circle all the rest except two of is weaned at four months saying they had hungry babies/needed more etc etc. they decided that was the case when they started waking at night. Oddly me and the other one were the only breastfeeders so i'm not sure if we expected them to wale/be hungry as part of the growth/spurt sleep regression and so went with it rather than finding a solution in food rather than milk.

nope - 4 months ish with all 3 - but to be fair with the first 2 it was the recommended age - with the 3rd I did BLW and she wanted to suck bananas honestly
