So today I went to sports direct with a friend and our children. Shop was hot and packed and I was looking for a waterproof jacket since I have now bought a bike through work to cycle and cut costs. Df's dd starts crying and soon enough DS is bored and tired chimes in too. So hot, flustered and feeling the pressure I grabbed the only one I could find after circling twice and bought it for £29.99. I really can't afford to be spending that kind of money and felt v guilty. After lunch I went back it was less busy so I got help and found one for £14.99. I went to refund and was told store policy was to not give cash back but a gift voucher! Wtf!? Who do they think they r?????? If I knew I would have never made such an impulsive decision or even bought from them now I have a £15 voucher I definitely don't want to use and sitting between wanting to cry or sending an email to customer service and tell them they are fucking c

Can I just add that of course there are costs associated with a refund policy and cheap stores cannot afford to have a full refund policy and offer low prices.

Think about it. sales asisstants' time, carrier bags that cannot be re-used, admin costs, (accounting), but by far the biggest must be the fact that if they offer refunds they then have to "honour" that policy. That means all the people who have kept the goods for 27 of the 28 days and insist on a refund even though the goods are creased, all the people who really have worn the item but create a scene, ( we have all stood behind someone like that after Christmas), people who have cut off the tags but insist they weren't on properly when the item was bought, goods that are returned and when examined in much more detail reveal a stain or a tear...etc etc. There is a loss associated with all this and it has to be passed on in the retail price.

a cautionary note: I purchased serval items online 1 out of 4 items fit properly so I went in-store to return, they offered a credit note as I didnt have the blue bag they cam in, I went home and returned, they then told me I had to post the items back as it was a online purchase. So I paid for delivery £3.95 and the return £3.95 wtf I will never ever purchase goods from their website again without having tried the goods on somewhere before hand
