Well, I have to say that I have known of several very gay and heterosexually married people. So everything is possible.

One of my friends was married for many years, now his her children have 2 mums. (Both lovely, BTW)

Edward is the only one to have a (seemingly) successful marriage. I would have guessed that Andrew not Edward was ghey, if asked.

A few years ago - while Prince Edward was going out with a woman - a friend of mine told me that a friend of hers [female] was also having an affair with him. Even though the affair was obviously just that, as PE had an official girlfriend, the Other Woman's mum was living in hope.

I have read on Mumsnet that the reason Fergie and Andrew split was not because of her affairs with other men but because of HIS affairs with other men. If so, that may explain why he is so nice to her still - he knows she was badly done by.

I hate all this initials and inferences stuff.

Throughout History gay men were hounded and tortured and it was illegal to be homosexual.
Gay royalty would have to marry, especially heirs to the throne in order to produce more heirs and continue the royal line.

It's only recently that it's not illegal to be a gay man.
Gay men got married to women as a cover for their homosexuality up until very recently and i expect some still do.

Gay people can now have civil partnerships.Don't know if any of the churches do gay weddings.

Okay why the idea that gay men can't be married? Throughout history most of them have been, and most even produced children (Richard I was a rare exception who didn't seem able to do his duty), look at Sparta etc. As Matthew Parris put it only a very few people (he includes himself) are totally 100% homosexual.

Actually his rude behaviour makes Andrew seem most like the Duke of Edinburgh.

Why would Edward be happy to be a smokescreen? Or does he have no choice about it?

From wiki:

In Britain, the original D-Notice system was introduced in 1912, run as a voluntary system by a joint committee headed by an Assistant Secretary of the War Office and a representative of the Press Association.

D-Notices and DA-notices are merely a request and therefore not legally enforceable and consequently news editors can choose to ignore them without (in theory) official repercussions, although they are generally accepted by the media. In 1971 all existing D-Notices were cancelled and replaced by standing D-Notices that gave general guidance on what could be published and what could not, and what would require further advice from the secretary of the Defence, Press and Broadcasting Advisory Committee (DPBAC). In 1993 the notices were renamed DA-Notices.

As of 2008[update] there are five standing DA-Notices:[1]

DA-Notice 01: Military Operations, Plans & Capabilities
DA-Notice 02: Nuclear and Non-Nuclear Weapons and Equipment
DA-Notice 03: Ciphers and Secure Communications
DA-Notice 04: Sensitive Installations and Home Addresses
DA-Notice 05: United Kingdom Security & Intelligence Special Services
On 8 April 2009 the Government issued a DA-Notice in relation to sensitive anti-terror documents photographed when Assistant-Commissioner Bob Quick arrived at Downing Street for talks about current intelligence.[2]

On 25 November 2010, the Government issued a DA-Notice (types 1 and 5) in relation to sensitive documents expected to be imminently released on the website WikiLeaks. [3] [4] [5]

Ah. i just heard a snippet on the radio I think mentioning a 'love child' of the queens and A was the only one who seemed obvious. Fancy. Well there's precedence for the acceptance of Harry then.
My sister told me he had homosexual leanings about 20 years ago. She had a journalist boyfriend at the time.

yy - I remember a journo friend saying there was a d-notice on both the real father thing and his being gay - which is why SF got a decent settlement.
