I was actually rather offended when, after a nice long shower, bit of time spent moisturising, drying/styling my hair, bit of make-up, nice skinny jeans, knee high boots, and a bit of confidence for the first time for a while due to non-sleeping 11 month old I asked DH how I looked and he said

'wow you look good, yummy mummy!!' and I was so crestfallen. I felt like in that one sentence my entire personal non-child identify had been wiped out, I still was identified as 'mummy' even by my DH without children been given any consideration in how I had dressed.

He told me I have been on MN too much / thinks I am nuts.

AIBU to feel disempowered by that statement of his?

Pavlov I know what you are saying and I don't think YABU. I'd rather have heard something about being his hot wife instead of 'yummy mummy'. My DH's dishwasher told him I was a good MILF, which he thought it was great, but I thought it kinda gross really as the dishwasher is 20 year old with a pregnant girlfriend but mostly because my husband thought it was great.

Hmmmm....well... DW is wearing a really nice dres today. She had an operation about 7 weeks ago so its the first time she has been able to get dressed up.

I've tried the spontaneus cuddle approach this morning which hopefully didnt turn into 'weird groping thing' so maybe I'll give the LeQueen approach a try too as we are going out to lunch.

My Dh calls me a yummy mummy and a MILf all the time usually accompanied with this weird groping thing he does up and down my body like some sort of pervy weirdo. Drives me nuts. i would love a non sexual compliment such as "you look pretty" rather than a "you look hot" even though I should be grateful I suppose.

Dd (4)calls me a "pretty mummy" regularly esp when i wear a particular dress or piece of jewellry. I prefer that as she's so genuine, it's really sweet

You should know by now never ask your DH to tell you how you look. Questions like that can cause panic responses.

I know the thought process inside my head would be "erm....oh no why are you asking... erm .... you are my wife...and a mother....erm.....and I better say something nice...erm .... and I ALWAYS get into trouble no matter what I say... HELP!!!"

Then I blurt out something like 'that dress looks nice because it really suits a mature woman'.

I shall take it with the affection it was given in then, but still he now knows that the Pavlov in me would like some recognition as well as the Mother in me. He knows now . I doubt if he will stop the compliments completely as a result, as no compliments will result in none of the other

I have to say I prefer MILF to yummy mummy at least MILF is not trying to be anything it is not. Where yummy mummy is women trying to make a new term for MILF and actually calling themselves it plus it makes my skin crawl.

I did wind my mother up the other day when she said jokenly in a restaurant that she is a yummy mummy (she is only 42) So I poited to my children and said as you have two of those I regret to inform you that you are no longer a yummy mummy but a GILF

I love yummy mummy, milf etc because it reminds me I grew a whole other human inside of me but it didnt change my body/looks at all and I personally love it. Maybe thats what this person was saying to you so revel in it
