@goldpendant rude the wave and it’ll pass.
I know the feeling so well. Homeschools shit. Having to work and toddler care at the same time want me to reward myself with wine. Thinking 2 weeks tomorrow made me stop.

@goldpendant

DH is about to cave - I feel like tonight would be an okay halfway wobbling point? Back on the wagon tomorrow? Just a glass or two etc etc 😭😭😭

You'll regret it tomorrow if you do

All those dealing with the witching hour - try to remember how glad you've felt the other nights once it passes. And would you actually enjoy it anyway, or would it be tainted by feeling bad about it.

There's the tactics that have worked for me in the past week when I've nearly caved.

No one is going to tell you you can't. But think about tomorrow when we're all celebrating 14 days, and you can't? Wink

Whoever mentioned a couple of drops of Angostura bitters in tonic tasting like G&T, I owe you a big thank you.

Both for the excellent drink and also for a reason to use that mystery bottle that's been languishing in the back of a cupboard for 10 years.

In fact I'll have one now....

Isn't Angostura bitters alcohol though?

boozynamechange · 13/01/2021 19:12

Oh is it? Blush Well it won't be enough to feel any effect - it's literally 2 tiny drops.

Negligible alcohol in two-three drops in tonic water

A teaspoon of bitters (which is a lot, comparatively speaking) is equal to about a 10th of a glass of wine

Report
boozynamechange · 13/01/2021 19:25

Oh well I have about a 50th of a teaspoon so I won't be in for a wild night!

Keep posting on here @gold or keep reading until the craving passes. I also google the benefits of not drinking when feeling the urge to remind me why i am doing it.

Hi everyone! This week has been so tough for me. I'm failing at home schooling, work is hard going, and we very nearly bent tonight. I went to the shop and nearly caved....but fought the impulse. Am worried about Friday night though and how I'll resist. I have felt very emotional this week and have wept a few times (took myself off into the bedroom for a little cry.) Sleeping like a baby though. Stood on the scales this morning and I've lost 7lbs since 1st.

Trying to focus on the good and funny things in life. For example some underwear was delivered today that I ordered. I opened the package and my immediate thought was 'oh I ordered vests instead'....then I realised they are just massive pants. I had a little chuckle as I tried on my massive, but super comfy knickers! Grin

Anyone else completely dumbfounded by how much time there is in the day?! I am being just hideously productive as well as watching lots of tv and reading lots of books. I was going to sort out my wardrobe earlier but thought I'd better leave some 'fun' for the weekend Grin

I very nearly caved tonight-home schooled stroppy teenager, on line funeral for an old friend and elderly mother driving me round the bend.

I so wanted to raise a glass to our departed friend tonight but resisted..it was hard though. I toasted him with a Fentimens Pink grapefruit tonic instead, thanks to however recommended that!

Anyone else just drink because they like the taste? That's me. I love the taste of a nice Italian red. I miss that taste buy chuffed with 13 days dry.

Popped a bottle of Nosecco tonight. Whoever suggested a bit of tonic in it needs a medal, it has taken all the sweet taste away that stops it being like Prosecco 😁

I have been off the wagon again tonight, registered my dads death, booked his funeral... and it's my birthday (ironic laugh here).

However, I'm loving my low alcohol life and will be back on it tomorrow. My self isolation period also ends at 0000hrs tonight, I'm proud of myself for my zero alcohol intake and exercising at home regime. I've list 5lbs.
