What/who embodies sophistication for you?

Just watching the Sound of Music with DD (her latest obsession).

Watching the Baroness with grownup eyes and she does it for me: not only does she dress beautifully but she has a sense of humour (the boat scene) and then departs the fray gracefully when she realises that the Captain loves Maria, even before he realises. I want to be like her.

@amusementPark

I would say Bree from Desperate Housewives.

In which season? Grin

She's such a brilliant character, I really loved her (even with the debauchery)

Michelle Obama! Absolutely, supportivemyarse, good call.

This is a bit left-field and also exposes the amount of rubbish TV I watch but I always thought that Rachel Lindsay from the Bachelorette was very sophisticated in a young way too. Very poised, very classy.

@AllAboutHallowsEve loved that letter!!

@MacDuffsMuff lush story, she sounds wonderful. And exactly the sort of thing I had in mind. Sophistication is about so much more than looks.

What a lovely story about Sophia Loren!

My mum always said that she was obviously a woman who was used to other women feeling insecure around her and made such an effort to make her mum good. She gave me and my sister a hug before she left and she smelled so lovely. My dad said that every single man on the set was hopelessly in love with her (I suspect he was one of them Grin).

I always think Victoria Coren-Mitchell comes across as self composed, witty and sophisticated

supportivemyarse she was talking to who must have been her DD, her voice was so familiar , I just thought that sounds just like the actress from My girl , you know the line "allergic to chocolate?"

I’m rarely starstruck by actors as I’ve seen so many and the majority look likes slobs in need of a good wash in RL Grin.
Leo DiCaprio , gosh you wouldn’t even know it’s him.
But Julie ormand just seems so elegant and classic, and Charlotte Rambling ofcourse .

I can't believe no one has mentioned a Vienetta yet ...

Oh yes, I remember that being the height of sophistication when I was young, that and Sara Lee strawberry cheesecake and Schloer, now that was one sophisticated beverage in the 80s Smile
