Gallicos same here- my brother and I still giggle at this if we sing it at church (and we’re in our 40s!)

My DS used to nag me to put the "scaffold song" on in the car. Took me ages to work out he meant Skyfall by Adele. Mind, it does sound like she is singing "when I scaaaaffoooooold...."

romany i too used to sing 'sindy, alan, wonderful christmas time' - there is a chance i was well into my 20s before i realised!!

the first time i heard 'rocking around the christmas tree' was in the film home along, so rather than 'voices singing, let be jolly' i heard 'Buzz is singing...' which is the name of Kevin's big brother....made sense at the time!

My nearly 4yo DD has been cracking me up this week with her phonetic approach to lyrics which is approximate at best. We get 'jingle all the way, olka far inkle reikal... hey!'

We always used to giggle slightly at 'Heat was in the very sod...' And hands up who knows the alternative words to Jingle Bells?

I always thought ‘hosanna in excelsis’ was ‘hosanna is in chelsea’

I thought 'Pokerface' was 'bomb the bass' (even though I knew the song title was Pokerface. Blush

Not a song, but our DS’s teacher was just about hicksing with laughter telling us about when she asked the class what the baby who was born at Christmas was called. DS (5) apparently told her the baby was called Davy Jones

Our daughter thinks the words to Away in a Manger are simply ‘a mange-el a mange-el’

Until just the other day I thought that the Xmas Coca Cola advert lyrics were "how many days are coming" not "holidays are coming".

I thought it was, 'humadays are coming, humadays are coming,' until I sheepishly asked what it actually said. Xmas Blush

My ds used to sing "Sindy, Alan, a wonderful for Christmas Time" The Paul McCartney song.

That did make me chuckle. Xmas Grin

I'm also another one who misheard Rocking Around the Christmas Tree. I totally heard it as "later we'll have some fucking crap" instead of "pumpkin pie." I didn't think pumpkin pie was a Christmas thing?

DD1 used to sing "Away in a manger, no crisps in the bed"

I was a Sunday School teacher in my teens and one of the little kids in my class thought it went ‘Brown John Virgin mother and child’ in Silent Night!

"Oh, what fun it is to ride on a one horse slope and sleigh.
How that would work, I don't know, but until a few years ago I was singing this, my dh thinks it's so funny.

My mum thought the lyrics to Plan B's song 'Begging' were "Peggy, Peggy Suuuueee".^

Yep, I did this too, but from The Four Seasons version (I had found out by the time the Plan B version came out!). Blush

Oh, I also thought that the lyrics to Lady Gagas poker face were "cherry pie, cherry pie" instead of "cant read my".

My mum thought the lyrics to Plan B's song 'Begging' were "Peggy, Peggy Suuuueee".
