What does the Tooth Fairy want children's teeth FOR?

I can only think of nightmarish answers.

Does she eat them?

Does she build a castle out of them?

Is it because if a witch gets a part of your body the witch can curse you, and the tooth fairy's job is to keep you safe from that?

They are ground up and used as fairy dust to let the fairies fly. That's why she leaves money, she's buying fairy dust off you

I once went to an exhibition which included a sculpture made out of children's teeth. It also included an armchair filled with human fat.

When DD was 6 she declared “i’m not giving away bits of me for money” and the tooth fairy never visited our house again.

It's her job. Why does anyone do anything? Why does daddy go to the office? (My mother's explanation. Fully accepted, question never asked again).

It's a question Terry Pratchett covered in his usual dark-comic way :)

As a kid I must have not been good at joined up thinking as I never wondered when my milk teeth were popping out. It was a straight up source of 50p coins to me (although tbf I did know DM/DF were doing the swap, I was usually awake longer than them as a kid and would fake sleep!)

Seems obvious.

Though I wonder where the hair fairy and the nail clippings fairy are. I suppose they just never got as famous because they don't pay for stuff.

She's a narcissist - it's all me, me, me with the tooth fairy.

My tooth fury left me notes with little pictures of the lovely new baths and bathroom suites that all the tooth fairies had because of my teeth. I liked that they had a use but I was quite a pragmatic kid!

Grin great thread.

I don't think I ever asked my parents this question when I was young. I never gave it any thought anyhow. If my ds asks me the question i'll go along with the one about the fairy giving them to new born children Smile

I never thought about until I had my DC. I asked my oldest what she thought and she gave me the castle explanation. Seems logical.

A fairy who found a child's tooth big enough to use as a stool would not be able to carry a pound coin comfortably.
