If the Government backs this act, it may as well legitimise witchcraft too. It has about the same basis in reality.

What a fantastic article. The whole thing was brilliant, but I particularly enjoyed this section:

What about the human rights of women suddenly threatened by the imposition of a dangerous male prisoner posing as woman but with male hormones coursing through his body? As always these days, it seems to be the minority that shouts the loudest that gets the most attention. Sadly this Conservative Government seems to be too open to the latest fashionable issues, keen to jump on any bandwagon they think will endear them to the liberal elite.

Lord knows why, these are not the people who vote for them. It is extraordinary that Theresa May's Government is seriously considering a Gender Recognition Act which would legitimise the process of gender self-identification. This flies in the face of all common sense and biological reality. Even after the process of surgical and hormonal reassignment, a human being born male will still be a man.

He may wish to change his name and dress differently and - in a civilised, tolerant society - there is no reason why we shouldn't treat him with courtesy in his new identity. But you cannot buck the scientific truth that he is still male despite his appearance. The transitioning process is not magic in which a man suddenly re-emerges as a female. If the Government backs this act, it may as well legitimise witchcraft too. It has about the same basis in reality.

IT IS also the thin end of a very fat wedge in which the Western scientific method is being undermined by the politics of desire. If I wish it so, it is so, is not the basis for any rational political decision. This is not the first time a male rapist has tried to exploit transgender claims to be sent to a female prison. In 2016 Davina Ayrton was convicted of raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl and yet, despite having no reassignment surgery, wanted to serve his eight-year sentence in a female prison.

Yet another clear and informative article. Journalists really are 'stepping up to the plate' on this and finally challenging the insidious silencing, bullying and brainwashing that's been enabled for far too long.

So, at this point the media outlets still pushing the TRA perspective are - the BBC, The Guardian, and Channel 4. Anyone else?

It's a freaky world when we find ourselves lauding the Express. God knows what it says about us.

I know! I can scarcely believe it myself being a long time guardian reading lefty . Not anymore

God knows what it says about us.

I think it says that people, especially women, across the political spectrum can see that genderist ideology is damaging and dangerous to women's interests.

I will never forgive the Guardian for its misogyny. I remember when it was the go to paper for feminists. No longer.

I agree with the article. I just find it very hard to share this given it’s the express!

The only way that article could have been improved would have been for comments to have been open so we could have linked to the consultation.

Fantastically clear, unequivocal about the fact that nobody can change sex, however much they wish to. A few months ago, that wasn’t being said anywhere.

I have felt very humbled by all this and frankly rather complicit. The realisation that we are in a trap where a toxic minority are able to threaten the safety of women and children by abusing power and manipulating people into believing delusions and fantasies as reality. That we have become so "liberal" that respected organisations like the Girl Guides and the NSPCC have no qualms about undermining the safety of children in order to pander to the demands of these groups

Max Hastings in the Times today writes about how we're in a time where 'hearts rule minds' and talks about the "exponents of ignorance and stranglers of debate". Share token below.

Prawn I stopped buying The Guardian about a year ago and have boycotted it since. One of my mates sent me a link to an interesting article on there the other day so I temporarily dropped my boycott to have a look.

Fuck me, could hardly read the article for all the giant yellow boxes begging for cash.

What's up Guardian? Are your pitiful circulation numbers dwindling even further? Wonder why!

I am just glad that papers that reach a wide cross section of the public are publishing articles on this madness (and not before time).

Whatever posters feelings about certain newspapers they are read widely and we need the general public to be informed. For too long this has been dismissed as a spat between feminists and TRAs played out on social media, that in itself has allowed this whole ideology to go forward unchecked. Now that it is finally regularly being featured in mainstream media the ideology is crumbling under the scrutiny.

Politicians have only been listening to and watching social media thinking that is the be all and end all of opinion, they are wrong - a huge swathe of voters use printed news media as their sources and basis for opinions and politicians who ignore that do so at their peril.

I was searching earlier for an article on Hannah Mouncey to make the point about risks of injuring women. First hit was a Guardian article which took the bizarre line that HM was being fat shamed out of women’s rugby by the new weight rules. You couldn’t make it up!

Also boycotting the Guardian, and I've been buying since my student days as it was the newspaper recommended by my Journalism tutor.

I feel a bit lost politically already but now I can't even by a newspaper! BBC was once also held in high regard, not now - ciswoman and reporting Prisoner White as she/her - all the woke bros can fuck right off.

I needed an emergency newspaper to line my guinea pigs' cage the other day. As it was for them to piss and shit on I was going to buy the Guardian. But I couldn't bring myself to give them the money for that.

Doubt it. They prefer to hound individual women.
