Cat coughing but not bringing anything up?

He's up to date with his jabs. I'm ringing the vet anyway because he's also limping on his back leg (probably a fight wound).

He is wretching or coughing fluffy?

Report
cozietoesie · 10/03/2014 21:05

Could he be wanting to vomit, Fluffy? It's sort of an associated thing in my experience.

Shall you OOH tonight? I'd mention it if so.

He sort of coughs but nothing comes out. No proper retching Confused

No money to ooh, it will have to be tomorrow night. He's sleeping now.

Keep a close eye.

If he's been in a fight (or had an argument with a lorry) I'm wondering whether he could be suffering from the after effects of a lot of adrenalin coursing around his system?

But he's young and fit. Keep him warm and best of luck to him tomorrow.

How is ASBOcat this morning?

He may have a fish bone or similar down his throat that is making im gaga. It happened to my dc (dear cat) once.

He's active but quiet. I know I moan when he's noisy but when he goes quiet I hate that even more.

The vet will know what's wrong.

Soreish throat from the coughing, maybe - but good luck to him tonight. (And to you and the vet practice!)

He's good at the vets, honestly he's not aggressive to humans only other cats.

Apart from that time he hissed at the ndn but he doesn't like blonds, and he only scratched fil because he was playing him up & we did warn him the cat will fight back.

Apart from that plus the time he smacked sil on the leg he's a good boy. Grin

Vet at 11.1am so we shall see.

Well the vet can't find anything wrong, no temp, heart & lungs sound normal & there's no tenderness in his leg or injury sites.

He's had a shot of metacam & has some to last him the next few days.

He's still limping and doing pathetic little mew sounds so I don't know. No more coughing.

Did you by any chance turn the heating off? (Seniorboy has been known to protest-cough if the temperature is not to his liking.)

Fair news generally though. Did he behave?

Report
Fluffycloudland77 · 11/03/2014 12:02

The heatings been off a few days, I don't like big bills so its never on during the day anyway.

The vet says he has a belly Angry

Short commons and a stern word with DH then ? (Re no extra treats.) Wink

Report
Fluffycloudland77 · 11/03/2014 12:13

Yes, actually it might be all his fault. He bought a bag of felix treats home with cereals in them and he had a runny tummy afterwards.

Well he's very quiet today & he was i when I got home so it's the vets tonight.

I will learn to not change vets practices, £50 to have a cat that's still poorly.

I didn't realize you had. Best of luck this evening.

Well his temps up to 105c but the vet can't find any wounds or tenderness anywhere so he's had an antibiotic shot & a course of antibiotics.

He's dehydrated, yesterday he weighed 6.3kg & now he's 6.15. He looks quite poorly.

It only cost £35 because she billed it as a follow up

I think the days he fights outnumbers the days he doesn't. Maybe a new cats moved into the area.

This may be out of left field but I'm just musing - has his mouth been checked? If he was in a scrap then he could have, perhaps, graunched a tooth or two on something - say a collar - and possibly have an infection there.

Report
Fluffycloudland77 · 12/03/2014 20:12

Yes she had a look in his mouth but nothing there. It's a mystery.

The vet said if it's not infection we have to check for pancreatitis.
