(35 Posts)Does anyone watch this? It's about a religious homeschooling family in Georgia US with 9 kids.
Lots of tensions and now the older kids have moved away and 3 of them have fallen out with the parents and confronted them about their homeschooling not properly preparing them for adult life.
The parents seem to try and blame everything on the daughter in law Olivia corrupting the others. It's funny how they are going to the opposite extreme doing sexy modelling etc
I watch, its fabulous.
Do you watch the Bates Family as well? They seem very different as they all seem to get on pretty well and not feel the need to rebel. The Bates parents seem really positive people
I've watched this. The mother is horrible.
There was another child but the Mum accidentally ran him over.
Micah is on Instagram, I showed Dd and she said, "bloody hell mum, he's about 12 and gay"!
Glad I’m not the only one who watches this!
The parents don’t seem to accept that the way they’ve raised the kids might not be the best way. It’s telling that 3 of their kids have a strained relationship with them.
Anyone know why they hate Olivia so much?

They think she encouraged the eldest son/her husband to rebel by drinking Coke.
I've watched a few episodes I prefer Bringing Up Bates. Although the bates are fundie they still allowed their kids freedom to explore life, get a proper education, jobs etc.
Used to watch 19 kids and counting and counting on but fell away from that as it's just weddings and popping out kids ASAP
I've never seen Bringing up Bates.
What channel is it on, it sounds right up my street.
Its on UPTv
The Bates know loads of people via church, so the kids have lots of friends, but I read that the Plaths stopped going to church as they didn't agree with how it's run, but Lydia seemed to say to Moriah she didn't have any local friends. The parents seem to see Lydia as their success story. She's sweet, but I found it worrying seeing her crying and praying in the prayer closet. I think she needs emotional help as she's really distressed by all the family fallouts
I feel for Michaela Bates as she's been.brought up to think having lots of babies is everything and was the biggest lover of babies of all of them, but she hasn't been able to have them after about 5 years ttc
Ill check tomorrow and see if I can find it.
Yes, I feel bad for Lydia too, and also Isaac.
He seems to be OK but I really think he needs his brothers around.
The parents just don't seem to get it at all.
Olivia and Ethan seemed loved up on the first series but she seems to have started to find everything he does deeply irritating which isn't a good sign
I noticed that too.
His upbringing catching up with him I'd guess.
Moriah's date was really sweet though, the guy seemed lovely and they both looked smitten.
I find the dad Barry cringey. He seems quite smug and as if he thinks he's funny. When he was telling Olivia she has character flaws in front of everyone. What about his and Kim's character flaws.
The sex talk with isaac was hideous. And the anniversary kiss in the last series
Yes Moriah's date seemed nice
@IHaveBrilloHair you can watch bringing up bates on an app called Pluto TV. A lot of old episodes on there
Looking forward to another episode today
Me too.
Love this series. I actually feel sorry for Kim and Barry - they did their best with their children and now it's being thrown in their faces. I dislike Olivia - it's not her place to dictate to her in-laws how to parent. Poor Ethan is between a rock and a hard place and I cannot see that marriage lasting much longer.
So far though I think series 1 was better. This one is dragging a bit.
I think the kids are right, they were never told anything about sex, or even basic biological differences like periods.
They also have no qualifications.
The parents definitely need to change the way they bring up the younger kids or they will end up losing them all.
One of them said again today that they had no friends outside the family. Only each other. That's not normal for a homeschooling family. They'd normally have a church community. The Bates seem much more sociable and functional
