Anyone watching along? Starts tonight, 9pm, C4. Runs for five nights. I loved Broadchurch, and have been on a Jury, and love anything like this.

Hope its good!

Yes, just about to start watching. It's scripted apparently but the jury are real, and don't know it's scripted?

Yes! Watching. What I can't remember is whether real juries are allowed to talk about it in breaks etc. I've even done jury duty and can't remember! I think we were banned, and if so, that's going to annoy me.

Not doing much to dispel myth of posh barristers!

Also, where are the solicitors?

What are the police interviews they are showing when he did a no comment interview?

I'm watching but not sure I'll stick it out. The problem is, if he's not found guilty, will we find out who did it? I'd need a tidy conclusion!

I was right. You can't discuss it with other jurors during the trial. That's going to annoy me. As is the over-emotional Australian juror.

XmasBaby new boyfriend did it. Wink

Forgot it was on so will have to watch on catch up- a very good friend is one of the barristers so will watch to see what you all say Grin. Have namechanged! They said it was very accurate. (not a barrister myself so don't know if true)

I'd love to be on jury duty! It's a bit less glamorous than the American legal dramas though.

Watching, but not massively grabbed so far

Feels quite realistic (apart from blabbering jurors!)

Its not real? Blush I thought it was!

Ah no not real. Not able to film real trials in the uk. It does seem incredibly realistic aside from the Jury breaks.

What idiot decided to put that irritating music in this programme ?I am being driven mad by it, I will have to go onto subtitles which is annoying because the programme is interesting. I think if I was accused of murder that barrister is exactly the sort of defence barrister I would want!

The discussions the jury are having when they are sent out are annoying me When i did jury service we were told everytime we were sent out not to discuss the case with anyone, even eachother.

There didn't seem to be much indication as to who were actors and who were real. I presume everyone were actors apart from barristers, judge and jury?? I also wasn't sure if the questioning of witnesses were edited or not. They seemed quite brief. Also not keen on the bits of footage of home video etc, felt like they couldn't trust us to keep interested without a bit of drama. Seen similar things to this which seemed more real. I've spent a morning in a press box of a murder trial once and I remember a lot of flanneling around, points of law, the jury being sent out while it was discussed whether they could be told something etc. etc.

Surely the pathologist (was he an actor? They didn't credit him) would have been asked the result of the DNA test on the foetus? That was confusing and weird. I think the drama of a murder case speaks for itself without any extra stuff.

The jury seemed a right bunch of intellectual heavyweights...not. Imagine your fate being in their hands Confused I've did jury duty once and it was quite an eye-opener. People wanting to use their mobile, wearing flip flops and one woman asking if she could skip the next day to see her grandson in a school assembly Grin No sense of the gravity of the situation at all.

Report
LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 21/05/2017 23:09

I've done not did. Not exactly an intellectual heavyweight myself Blush

I've not done jury service, so didn't realise they weren't allowed to talk about it. What's the point in going through all the detail of making it realistic then changing that? For dramatic effect?
Having said that, I'm really interested in the judicial system so found it really interesting. Can't wait to find out who the father of the baby is - perhaps the boyfriend did know, it's not him and he murdered her?
