Boring title; hope the tennis is better!

Oh thank God. I was going into serious withdrawal there for a minute with the old thread full and no new one yet. Thanks GK

So as I was post #999 on the old thread I will repeat myself here:

I've been doing the makeup for the Year 6 play. Almost as much fun as watching the tennis!

But that means I've missed it - did Gasquet go off injured? What a shame.

Of course I could google but as someone said up there, tis much more fun to ask here!

Pleased that Raonic is through - go Canada!

SpaceUnicorn · 04/07/2016 19:06

Oh well. Murray/Tsonga might at least be a game worth watching, eh? Hmm

Missed the Gasquet drama, will go and catch up now.

Yes, poor old Gasquet hurt his back. Sad

Andy to play Jo-Willy next. Should be a fun match!

poor GasquetSad

was listening to the Kyrgios debacle match on the radio whilst out. he may have played the first set (wasn't watching) but the consensus on there was he definitely gave up. Tim sounded really pissed off with him, and Pat Cash was embarrassing in his attempt to defend Kyrgios.

He is indefensible-a waste of time, and talent. He is taking the piss out of all the people who invest time in him.

Tim was funny- said Murray should charge Nick for the lesson and it would be more than the £30 Willis would chargeGrin. Pat seemed un-amused. Grin

Grin Great line from Tim. Though I read that Pat Cash said "When the going gets tough, Kyrgios goes shopping".

I was quite amused by my realisation that Kyrgios and Venus Williams have matching hairstyles Grin

Agree with everything you say about Kyrgios Raahh, he needs a good talking to! The only thing I can think of to say in his defence is that he's only 21. Although my own 21yr old seems streets ahead of Nick in terms of maturity. Admittedly she's not in the full glare of the public eye though!

I'm a big Cilic fan and I know he beat Roger at the US Open couple of years ago, but I can't help feeling they're bigging up Wednesday's match and that Roger will dispense with him quite easily. He didn't play too well at Queens and I think self belief is an issue for him. We'll see what happens on Wednesday.,

Found you! I was having palpitations there for a minute.

Thanks for the new thread, Grouchy Star

I've just caught up on the chat on the last thread. Glad I'm not the only one who finds Inverdale's commentary annoying.

I was getting irritated with Kyrgios there, he just couldn't be bothered once it became clear it wasn't going his way.

I'm not sorry Kyrgios is out. I hope Tsonga can give Murray a match though.

I'm a big Tsonga fan too but again think Murray will win easily.

Juan I'm not sure Cilic will beat Fed, and it might be over too soon. Hopefully we'll get to see GoranGrin

Ooh yes please! Glimpse of Goran will brighten up any day :)

I'm not loving Venus's hair this year. Or Kyrgios's but he's gone

Thanks for the new thread.

Having defended Kyrgios in the last thread I now retract all I said in favour of him. What a brat.

DH wondered if Kygrios & his family were having bets...................... hmmm

Raahh · 04/07/2016 22:57

magi- it makes you wonder, doesn't it? Which British player was it who was fined last year for not trying hard enough in a match? Kyrgios regularly 'tanks'- Henman was saying on the radio that he has admitted he isn't really that fussed about playing(Nick, that is), and definitely won't play until he's 30.Hmm. If he thinks that makes him sound clever, it just makes him sound more of a prat.

I was hugely disappointed in the Murray-Kyrgios match. I'd been looking forward to that all day!

We came home early from sightseeing especially to enjoy an afternoon of Telly tennis. Hmmmph.

So pleased for Fed's result despite quite liking Stevie J. and still hoping beyond all reason for another title for him. But you can see how far hoping beyond reason got me for acquiring tickets....

The main thing for me now is that I don't mind nearly as much as I once did who actually wins -- as long as my favorite doesn't lose to someone I really dislike.

My DS has been a Pouille fan since we watched him play Fed in Paris (on tv I hasten to add) so he is feeling vindicated by LP's progress. I am pleased because he beat Tomic, whom I dislike.

It's almost like reality tv around here.

Krygios needs to stop blaming the media. Either put up or shut up - if you hate tennis than stop doing it. When you're a 21 yr old gifted athlete with money in the bank you have options. Nobody's interested in your existential crisis. He doesn't "owe it to himself" or anyone else. He gifted Andy that match yesterday, which is disrespectful, whoever you are.

Re Kyrgios betting - he did get his phone out when he first came on court. Perhaps he was texting his bookie.

Serena also got her phone out the other day before starting her match I noticed. Serena and Venus seem very different don't they? I find Venus much more likeable.

I've just got back from the gromers. Thanks to getting himself tangled in a muddy bush, he has had to have a very severe chop. He had grass seeds growing into his beard that just would't come out. Poor weechap looks more like a jack russell than a schnauzerSad

I like Halep, and really wanted her to win this.

Awww, poor Ike.

I prefer Venus too. She seems less self-involved.

I've just said goodbye to my friend and her five children so my girls and I are having a rest! I'm contemplating a nap, but true to form the baby has decided that now's a good time to wake up for the afternoon. Will try to watch the doubles later.

Ike will thank you for his haircut Raahh if ever we get any hot weather.

Grouchy what are your nights like at the minute with a tiny dd? Hope you managed a nap earlier.

Watching Cib v Vesnina now but with sound down - can't bear either Annabel Croft's or Jonathan Overend's commentary.
