X FACTOR - It's the semi final- and hurrah!- they are singing CHRISTMAS songs!

because they didn't last year, or the year before. And for once, I think Pugsy has got totally the right song (am biased because it's my favourite, and i think it will suit him). His second song, however, I am less happy with. Hmm

Here are the songs-

Andrea Faustini
O Holy Night by Mariah Carey
Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus

Lauren Platt
Stay Another Day by East 17/Girls Aloud
Story Of My Life by One Direction

Ben Haenow
Please Come Home For Christmas by The Eagles
Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen

Fleur East
All I Want For Christmas by Mariah Carey
Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars & Mark Ronson

'Stay another day' for lamenting Lozza is inspired- dirgy enough to slow it down to snail's pace, and lots of puffa jackets, 80's fashions for the dancers/ choir.

I'm not sure about Ben's at all- but at least they haven't attributed 'Hallelujah ' to Burke.com. I like the Eagles- but there are so many great Christmas songs to choose from...

Fleur has Mariah- not really her style. And the Mark Ronson track is very new, so the audience might not know it. It is ok, though.

Ohh it's getting exciting. wonder what Louis will be saying, now he doens't have an act, and doesn't care?

See y'all later. Xmas Grin

Thinking about it, though- 'Stay another day' isn't really a Christmas song, it was just released then- and they made a Christmassy looking vid, and added bells to the tune. It's really, really not very festive.

Hi everyone, i think Louis will just be on the fence as usual. Lots of 'journey' talk and 'made it your own ' type things. He hasnt much to contribute really...

Frozen- he is a bit of a spare part, isn't he. Xmas Grin

I wonder if they will do the singing with the mentor thing this year? Probably not this year, with Simon having two acts leftGrin. And 'singing' is pushing it with Chezza And Mel anyway Xmas Grin

Louis is really dim and tedious. Do they keep him to make Chezza look like Shami Chakrabarti?

I do wonder whether Louis puts on the dim act, just for laughs. Whereas Chezza....

Well yes, there are times when you wonder if any of them could read a map.

Line, they probably have diamond encrusted sat navs, or some mug to drive them around town!

Louis will say exactly what Simon tells him to say, just like Chezza and Mel do. You can almost see the puppet strings behind the three of them Grin.
I thought, at the start, that Mel would be good on this, but, as time goes on, I find her tiresome.

I think Ben will be dressed as Shrek as this song was played a lot in the first film! Wrecking ball is a terrible song, as long as they dont put him on a wrecking ball as Miley is in the video, he might be ok and scrape through.

Jill- having seen what Mel was like when she was a guest judge- where she went all out to 'mean' and he criticism was for the sake of it, rather than constructive, I thought this would be the year i would be put off watching. I couldn't stand her as a guest. But she hasn't been nearly 'mean' enough, and when she has tried to be critical, it has sounded false, and scripted. But last week, I actually agreed with her a couple of times.

And she used far too many stooopid buzz words. Like 'On point'. Xmas Grin

She's far preferable to Chezza. Who is too far up Cowell's behind to be taken seriously.

Ben dressed as Shrek would be amazing.

But I'll be complaining again, if Pugs has backing dancers 'dressed' as Miley, atop wrecking balls.

Just me with the mental flash of Pugsy naked on that wrecking ball then?

I wonder if he is hairy all over? Rudy?

He could sing Hairy Ball instead of wrecking? So many pleasant songs out there and they choose that one.

Interesting fact- on the the b-side to 'Chocolate salty balls' by Chef from South park id the Cartman version of 'O Holy night'. Maybe Pugsy could dress up as Chef. or Cartman. Xmas Grin

it was 1998. and the last Christmas I worked at Virgin/Our Price. I spent Christmas eve selling Southpark dolls and copies of 'Goodbye' by the Spice Girls.

Raahh, the worst christmas number ones has to be mad world or stan by eminem ! So depressing. The spice girls had several xmas hits.. I bet Mel B would love those days back. I miss record shops - downtown records was so cheap and noisy. Loved flicking through the vinyl covers in alphabetical order. Happy days..

I never knew Mariah Carey wrote O Holy Night. Had no idea she was round in Victorian times.

There is a dispute on ms Careys real age apparently, so she might have been about then!

I hate the Mariah version of O Holy night. In fact, apart from 'All I want for Christmas... ' I wasn't a fan of the album.
I love the Nat King Cole version.

The best Christmas Song, I think as I enter my gimmerdom, is Chris Rea Driving Home For Christmas.

I think Andrea should have had a crack at The Darkness.

It was the year that Terry 'Corduroy Penis' Wogan read out the wrong winner. Or the wrong future loser, depending how you look at it.
