She is looking marvellous. Why doesn't my skin look like that and I am a lot younger.

ANYWAY steak and chips (tagliata and tuscan fries).

I like the book and the TV show is looking good so far.

I used to like her, but I'm finding her a bit, I don't kow, irritating?

Pretentious? Precious? Slightly arch? Not sure exactly what it is.

Oh I like her

She is very much changed from year ago - I am watching Nigella Bites as well at the mo, and she is completely different.

Mind you I was different 11 years ago as well.

Yes, arch is the perfect word actually.

You are right, but I think she is very engaging.

Well, I'm sorry Mrs Bolt, but she's getting on my tits now. I used to be a big fan, but I think she's turned into a self-parody, and I am just CROSS how her teenage children and various random friends with photogenic toddlers are roped in to partake of a totally staged picnic.

And that "mizza" looks FOUL!

(She does have delightful skin, I'll give you that)

She is beautiful. Don't agree that the chips are ok in cold oil though. I will forgive her though.

For me it's a 'love/hate' thing. I must say she looks great, having said that I've never cooked one of her recipes even though I have one of her books (Delia all the way for meGrin).

lapsedorienteerer · 24/09/2012 20:57

OK, I've have now decided she is seriously annoying!

Report
AllPastYears · 24/09/2012 21:24

Oh she's always been annoying! Simpering at the camera and cooking in low lighting in dressing gowns. Good lighting and an apron, I say!

dh was drooling over that stupid mizza thing. Hmm

We were in agreement that the tinned tomatoes with an egg in it sounded foul.

She has totally lost it Sad I used to really like her

I used to like her years ago when she just started cooking her grief away. She seemed honest then
. Now she is Mrs Charles Saatchi , demolishing half a street and rowing with neighbours , she just feels like an over indulged patsy. Poor John Diamond must be rotating.

I still love her!

Her voice has changed though - sore throat or smoking??

Grin

The tomato and egg thing is fab - do something similar where you spice the tomato bit up a bit - good for when veggies invite -themselves-- drop in unexpectedly.

I thought it was pretty fab - really cool parts of Italy and Nigella looking just fab - will be seeing her closer up in a few weeks time!!

I agree re tomatoes and eggs, I adore Shakshuka which is similar.

I really like the idea of tomatoes and eggs - I really like huevos rancheros which is rather similar. I would just throw double the amount of spice in that Nige uses.

I really like the book, stick with the TV show everyone as there are some lovely recipes in it.

I don't think that steak and chips cooked in cold oil and the eggs and tomato dish were the best dishes to start with, tbh.

I liked the idea of making a single steak serve two people, then noted that her definition of a steak is the cross section of a cow. It was enormous.

Yes that steak was rather large. I like the idea of cooking and marinading afterwards, and then the tomatoes in the steak gubbins as well.

I only caught the second half of this programme, but there didn't seem to be a whole lot of real cooking going on. Just slinging tins of this into cans of that. I always suspect -probably unfairly- that in real life her food is probably a bit hit and miss.

I really hate the cheesy scenes of her and her 'friends'. And I cannot stand the ones with her children. For some reason I always feel like giving them a slap (and yes, I'm not proud of that).

Tomatoes and eggs - traditional English fried breakfast aren't they? Squash fried toms into toast, and then pour the runny yolk in - same sort of thing, really. With English breakfast you can have a few other things as well, but it's to trad Eng brekkie without egg and tomato.

Report
Jux · 25/09/2012 15:33

Duh, not trad Eng brekkie, obviously.
