I might give it a go. Loved the original though so am apprehensive about an American remake. It surely can't be better so it may spoil my fond memories of Sarah and troels.

Do you know what channel it will be on and when it is due to start?

Just after typing that I saw an advert for the series on channel 4. It starts on the 7th July. Will give it a go. Can't be any worse than most of the UK crime dramas (except Scott and Bailey which is my guilty pleasure at the mo)

I don't think I could watch it... no one could match up to Troels and Lund - or indeed her jumper... what the bobbins do you think they'll put Lund in???

Noooo you can't!! It would be traitorous! Is it just exactly the same story line? I'm wondering if I'll be able to treat it as a completely separate entity to the original. Does anyone know when the second series of the original one is going to be shown?

I thought I read somewhere that series 2 would start in the autumn but that might just be wishful thinking.

Autumn is the rumour peggotty... but when in the Autumn we are not to know.

Wallander is a 14 part series I think so maybe after that??

peggotty I think it's going to be the same storyline at the start, but then take off in a different direction, ending up with a different killer.

I feel like a traitor, but I also feel like an addict needing a fix. I think I'm about to give in to my habit.

mammamoomin I'm worried they're going to put her in one of those michelin man style padded sleeveless anoraks. Then they'll catch on and everyone will be wearing them.

noooooooooooooooooooooo they can't... its american she'll look 'great' and her teeth will be really white, she won't get bags under her eyes from not sleeping, she'll have full make up on all the time will have heels - which she will be able to run in without breaking her ankle.

Hair will be the obligatory shiney long, gorgeous locks - not shoved up into a pony tail....

I think I'll have to watch it if only to cuss it for its badness... alternatively it could surprise and be good....

Culture, when I first started watching it, I thought Troels was pretty weird looking. But then he grew on me. I would rather have a saucy dream about him than Martin bloody Kemp like I did last night

Looks like it will be a retelling of the original story - names have been kept similar - Sarah Linden, the Larsen family...

I'll probably watch the first one just out of curiosity, but doubt I'll stick out the whole series. Doens't seem much point when the Danish one was so great.

Oh, and the jumper in the publicity shot is no match for Lund's!!!

I'm fairly excited about the American version, it does feel a bit like cheating on Lund and Troels (noooo! I would never cehat on him swoon )

It get decent reviews and I suspect those who haven't seen the original will think it is pretty good. One review I read just said "Excellent use of knitwear"

Why must Americans remake European stuff - The Killing, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.... Just lie back and bask in the glory of the originals!
