60 minute s&b challenge: up-do's and smoky eyes

anyone up for a challenge? i'm going out in about an hour and a half and i'm looking for:

a) a rock'n'roll up-do for long hair (waist length) needs to stay put for a night's dancing, but not be too "done" i.e. not french-pleaty

b) dark eye makeup that doesn't make me look like a panda, or a 6 yr old let loose with her mum's makeup bag (my usual look when i try this). i'm thinking purples/blacks?

it's a big night for me tonight and would really appreciate a few pointers/links if anyone has any? ta

You need a messy bun for your hair, look on youtube.

Ditto for the eyes, the clips are all on youtube.

check out panacea81 or something like that on you tube. It's that lauren luke - she does really good step by step make up.

messy bun

This is the best way I think of doing it, but eith dry hair, not wet like she doesn.

It actually looks really natural and messy.

okay have attempted messy bun (thanks omdb) but hair is too long/heavy, no way will it stay in place all night.

Why don't you just chop six inches off? Your hair is far too long for an up-do.

for dark eyes you need a LOT of dark( almost black eyeshadow) a white one for inside sockets, a smudger

why not just a quiff
back comb top
pull back the middle section
twist
fix
srpay

okay hair is done, no scissors req'd :P had a go at a quiff voley but looks a bit halloweeny when teemed with high forehead went for mini-quiffesque front section plaited to side and wrapped into 2-part bun, so you don't see the elastic but it's all securely fastened.

okay makeup next, that link looks good omdb...

Possibly too late but make up is better with charcoal greys than black.

Light highligher, grey over the lid, dark grey in the corners. Neaten up with cotton bud round the edges. Blend blend blend, neaten again. Slick of eyeline on the top and halfway round the bottom lashes, loads of mascara and touche eclat (or equivalent) underneath the eyes to brighten.
