Hi I thought I would start a thread to ask.
Sorry if it's been done but I couldn't find it.

what does anyone reckon to this one?
Anymore around?

lol at "if its been done before" - a decent waterproof coat to wear while pushing a pram is MN holy grail!

Teh one you linked to is fine - can't get excited about it but it looks like it would do the job

tk maxx has some really nice patagonia stuff in at the moment. well worth a look, highly technical outerwear for hikers etc but at the more stylish end of the market.

price-wise, i got a jacket for £30 (prolly retails at about £160) and a hooded coat for £60 (£190-220ish)

well is will be waterproof but is not warm enough for a wniter coat and is bloody pricey and not especially stylish

not much better than a cagoule imo

if you are doing it then this will be toasty warm

or this one plus a hat - their zip-out liners are fab

Oh I like that second landsend mac MrsBadger.
They are bloody expensive aren't they.
No Primark near me but it might be worth a trip to Brighton or Maidstone just for a visit.

Doesn't seem long enough though?

primark??

no primark coat will be waterproof
did you mean TKMaxx?

NB this is a bargain if you are not fussed re warmth and are a size 14-16 - their M is generous

They have got a few of the ones I linked to half price but in dodgy colours tbh...

I am a 10.
Totally fed up looking at jackets trying to be coats, non waterproof coats, thin cold coats......

What do we think of parkas? I have never owned one, but am wondering if this is the solution to the warm/waterproof/hood dilemma?

If there are any large garden centres near you, they may be worth a look. Most of the ones near us (not the Homebase sort) have clothing sections, and now is just the time of year when they have long raincoats.

How much d'you want to spend?

Oh I looked at that and loed it Flyme. I couldn't justify spending that on something that was bound to be too small for me though

nicer colour than the regular one as well.

this actually does not look that bad marmot coat

If you have lots of money, this looks very versatile (waterproof, detachable hood and lining): North Face Lauren Trench

Or even this: North face arctic parka

Check this one out - obviously you would need a hat though.

Don't get a coat with a hood!!! You can never see to cross a road if you're pushing a pram, and I always end up taking the hood down and getting wet hair. Get a hat instead - looks so much nicer!

Jumente · 15/09/2009 16:38

thanks Flyme, but I am a 10-12 and I think the one you mean is a 14-16? Never mind...love the Fatface one but tis a bit dear for me atm.
