But she's not young in Hollywood terms, nor even in the world of British TV.

I have an actress friend who was on a BT tv advertising campaign, playing the role of a mother of a teenager leaving for University. At that time she was just over 30 in rl and had a young baby.

Middle aged women are seriously under- represented on tv!

She isn't old even in Hollywood terms. She's the same age as Reece Witherspoon.
Mama Mia was the no1 grossing film in 2008 and all the actresses were around 50 and she's a couple of years older than Maggie Gyllenhaal who was the only woman in Dark Night, which was no1 at hte box office.
And she's not exactly been short of roles lately!

Jolie slipped slightly above Aniston, raking in $27 million dollars for Wanted and Salt, and Aniston?s managed to make $25 million for Marley and Me, The Baster, and of course, ?Friends? reruns.

Next on the list was Meryl Streep with $24 million, which mostly came from her role in Mamma Mia
Then Sarah Jessica Parker with $23 million for the Sex and the City movie
Finally Cameron Diaz rounds out the top five, with a cool $20 million between June 2008 and June 2009.

None of these women are younger than Winslet!
